Elspeth shortened to Elsie - what do you think?

Ive finally got dh round to my way of thinking and we are planning on going with this name - what do you reckon?

I like Elspeth.

Dont like the nickname Elsie.

Sorry, but Elspeth reminds me of a little old lady running a post office.
Don't like Elsie either. Elsa is lovely, though.

Don't really like Elspeth, sounds a bit like Elizabeth prounced wrong. Love Elsie and better again Elsa.

Hmm bit of divided opinion! I love Elspeth + Elsie so tbh I am just canvassing opinions!

I like it - bit Scottish but there's nothing wrong with that. I think it's one of those "old lady" names which will suddenly become ultra trendy and you can be all smug (which would be unbelievably shallow of you, but what the hell).

Elspeth looks and sounds clumsy. It's difficult to say so it ounds like a name and not just a drunk trying to say Elizabeth. Awful. Elsie is OK but a bit cutesie and will date. Prefer Elsa.

I know an Elspeth and she is certainly not a little old granny! It's a traditional Scottish name which has become more popular lately. Would rather have a classless, dateless name like Elspeth than share it with the million Olivias, Chloes and Emilys that are everywhere at the moment.

I like both Elspeth and Elsie, very pretty. Otherwise you could of course have Elisabeth with nickname Elsie.

My littlest sister is called Elspeth Rose (she'll be 4 in March). I think it's adorable - it really suits her! We're Scottish too. She gets Ellie and Elsie for shorts, but also the full name - she's not exclusively nicknamed.
