How difficult is face painting ?

I ask as I have the artist ability of a dead duck and a child who today coloured her hands paws and whiskers in deep blue felt tip pen.

So whilst she is now much paler blue and the offending pen in the bin (that will teach me to ignore the silence behind the sofa for 5 minutes, LOL.) I asked her why and she explained that she had to be a cat, toddler logic. She is a cat most mornings.

I thought she would love to look like a cat for the day So I was hoping I could do a passable cat ? I know the local children's craft shop has face paints and I wondered how difficult it is to do a very basic design on a wriggly 3.6 year old ?

Easy. Get a book and follow the steps. I have the art skills of the worms inside your dead duck and even I can get a decent looking result from face painting.

Really really easy! Better off getting the snazaroo face paints than cheaper ones as they go on easier and are better colours. You can get loads of ideas and guides from their website too. Just be aware that the face paint does rub off on furniture so we paint faces on the way out and it comes off on the way in!

Had a look at Amazon and there are a lot of books on there, I'll try my local library first.

A cat is dead easy. Whatever colour cat she wants, do that with a sponge. Paint on a black nose and some whiskers. Job done.

Dead easy - I have the artistic talent of a dead duck too but can do a passable dog and cat. Flowers and hearts are easy too and look good particularly with a bit of glitter on them. Defo snazaroo paint - get them off ebay they last for ever.

I got a book from the library but found just going for it worked best!!

Is there a minimum age for face painting ? i.e. Would I be silly to paint 20 month old DS face ?

I suspect DS will want to do anything that DD does.

He already copies her, I had two cats crawling around the floor meowing this morning. Followed by two princess dancing to the radio. Her in a tiara and him in a bob the builders hat (went fab with the princess dress ).
