I'm making a ruffled scarf for my SIL and a hat and scarf set for a friends daughter. Next I plan to start on some cute animals for the kids easter presents.

I love to crochet, have been doing it since I was a child and I'm trying to set up a bit of a side line making crochet goods for friends and family and perhaps to sell at craft fairs etc in the future.

Currently I am doing a dress for DD1 out of Crochet Today magazine, a bunch of flowers for my mums birthday (a month ago) and an amigurumi ladybird for DD2.

I would love to make stuff for fairs but have enough trouble finishing the projects I have!

Bleatblurt · 27/02/2010 16:23

I am making a square.

I have just learnt the basic stitch so this is the limit of my abilities.

EssenceOfJack · 27/02/2010 16:38

I am sure it is a lovely square butter!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 27/02/2010 16:53

I'm finishing a blanket and making a newborn size hat for my friend.

I think I might have a go at some animal toys next, or I might make a ripple blanket.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 27/02/2010 16:54

Just to clarify, a hat for my friend who is having a baby - she doesn't have a head the size of a newborn baby.

Some colourful granny squares

SpawnChorus · 27/02/2010 19:31

Flowers to leave in geocache boxes

Pheebe · 28/02/2010 08:22

A bunch of flowers wow

I'm now on to a hat and scarf set for a friends daughter and ahve been asked to decorate it with flowers and a butterfly!

Where do you all get your flower patterns from?

Not crocheting much atm as morning sickness has really put me off, but am just doing a little bumble bee rattle for a friend's impeding baby.

Are the flowers from 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet? I love that book!

Just go Weekend Crochet for Babies by Sue Whiting from the library, which is a really nice book.

There is so much I want to make but really can't be arsed at the moment. I want to make the wrap around shawl from the last Inside Crochet mag.

EssenceOfJack · 28/02/2010 12:39

Ooh me too Bumper, I am searching for the right kind cheapest of yarn now.
Flowers are from Crochet Bouquet and my favourite new book, 201 crochet motifs, blocks and ideas. It's awesome has an alphabet for letter bunting and loads and loads of stuff for short projects.

Bumperlicious · 28/02/2010 13:19

OMG I have just put the 201 book on my wish list, I literally did it half an hour ago!

It doesn't look much does it? But a woman at my knitting group had it and I love the letters.

Have just replied on your book thread too btw.

EssenceOfJack · 28/02/2010 13:59

thanks bumper! That book is seriously awesome, so much stuff and really good clear instructions.
I am trying to make all the animal blocks for a zoo blanket but keep getting distracted!
Pheebe, have a look at www.crochetpatterncentral.com
They have a load of links to free patterns + a whole section with flwers + butterflies in the animal bit. I would link but am on my phone + haven't figured out how to copy + paste!

Pheebe · 28/02/2010 15:14

Thanks EOJ, have just had a look...it looks FAB!

I am hitting amazon too and hadn't thought of rooting through our local library ! Doh!

Got Supercute Crochet animals book for my bday and will be making stuff from that next I think for Easter.

There are a few gems at the library. Supercute Crochet is fab! Would love to make stuff to sell but I view my crochet in the same way that I do my own baking, it is never as good when I make it compared to when someone else does it.

Pheebe · 01/03/2010 17:49

I've just booked a table at a local craft fair

I may be nuts but I'm very excited

I have just bought the 201 book on amazon based on what is said here!

It looks good. I have made several super cute creatures, Bumper - they are pretty good, but my rabbit really didn't look like the one in the picture!

I am also on my second one of these

EssenceOfJack · 01/03/2010 21:32

Finally found some green pipecleaners so I can glue them to the back of the flowers tomorrow and then post of mums present. Phew.

I want to make some easter chicks for DD's or maybe some of the egss from super cute. I did make the baby chick that fits in an egg about a year ago but DD's were too little to work out how to do it. I reckon a box each of those might be sweet.

Bumperlicious · 01/03/2010 22:18

That looks familiar special, was it you asking what FLO meant? How have they turned out?

I could do with an easy idea for a Mother's Day gift actually. My mum is young and pretty funky. I would make her some fingerless gloves, but I am supposed to be making her a pair from Christmas (I made some and she didn't like them .) What else could I whip up? She's pretty picky, but likes pretty trinkety things and likes hearts.

odisco · 01/03/2010 22:23

How about crocheted earrings? There are a couple of good heart shapes on Ravelry. eBay for the earring attachement - thingys and bob's your uncle!

EssenceOfJack · 01/03/2010 22:24

Do you get crochet today? It's an american magazine but I subscribe as it has the best cute little patterns.
these are the flowers I am doing for my mum, but these heart coasters are cute and you could probably adapt something like these pots for a cute design.

(too much linking to that site I know, but was finding [[http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/pixie-dress this] pic to show my mum the dress I am making for DD1.)

specialsmasher · 02/03/2010 18:59

It is me, Bumper! The one I have finished is very cute - but I did get confused about the frilly bottom - not sure the pattern is written very well, but I AM a beginner.

Thanks so much again for help with FLO

specialsmasher · 02/03/2010 19:04

Those flowers are so lovely! The link is all American though - otherwise I might be tempted to just buy all needed!

luscious.

EssenceOfJack · 03/03/2010 12:18

The magazine is american but you can buy it here or I can email you the pattern...

I do love those birds...hmmm

Have finished the flowers, am going to blog them later on my shiny new blog. DH has actually requested a flower for his mum as her sight is slowly coming back, and as it's only the second time he has ever asked me to make something specific I have to do it!

specialsmasher · 03/03/2010 20:04

I would be most grateful for an email - I only want to make one really - I'm still a beginner. A daffodil or something. I would be interested in getting the magazine too, though, if it's good.

My email is [email protected]
