so who is stull up for a get together live and in person? any suggestions as to where? when?

I know there aren't that many large enough craft shops but I could call around some coffee and tea shops to find somewhere to house us.

I'm near Derby and if my house wasn't so small I would gladly have it here. But I will bring homemade cakes and cookies!

anyone intrested

I'm up for this. I'm just off J11 of M42 (so between Burton and Ashby). My house is a decent size so you could come here

Gingermonkey · 18/01/2008 17:58

I'm in west yorks, but I'm sure that won't stop me coming down to your neck of the weeks every once in a while! So you can count me in! My best days are wednesdays, but that's only because DS is at nursery...I could always palm him off to someone

Nbg · 18/01/2008 18:33

Oooh I'd love to but I dont drive and with 3 kids its a bit hard really.

I'm in North Yorks though and my house is pretty big so if you all fancied a drive one day I'd be more than happy to entertain.
Plus the station is 2 mins from us.

Dingle · 18/01/2008 18:41

Shuffles off and sulks in her little Kentish corner!

lucykate · 18/01/2008 19:34

i'd be up for it too, our house is big enough for a meet up, but would be further for the northern ones to travel, but closer for the southern people.

whizzz isn't that far from where my mum lives, and dior is really close to where my fil lives.

dizzy, are you anywhere near conkers?, that's near ashby, and have you ever visited ferrers gallery?, i think thats in your neck of the woods.

what about the nottingham ikea for us midlanders?, it's just over an hour from me, not very glam i know but does have somewhere to sit, chat and eat plus there's fabric

jeangenie · 18/01/2008 20:04

I'm in London and have space to host - oh, come on down, there's even a nice wool shop near me

will be very sad to miss it ladies, would love to meet you all but think DH would think I'd quite lost all my marbles if I suggest driving to yorkshire to meet up with some folk off the net

dizzyday07 · 18/01/2008 21:12

LK - Conkers is just around the corner from me!! Have been to Ferrers too - we went to see Santa there this year

lucykate · 18/01/2008 21:45

we went to conkers for the day during the summer, kids loved it, although my heart was in my mouth watching my 2 year old on the 'teenagers & adults only' assault course , he's such a climber, went over that huge rope bridge about 6 times.

there's an open air swimming pool over your way too, is that any good?

we're over that way quite a bit as we went to uni in leicester, so know it well and have friends still living there.

Tillyboo · 18/01/2008 22:37

Bugger ! I'm just too far away in Berkshire.

Have fun and post some piccies so those of us that are miles away can put faces to names

dizzyday07 · 18/01/2008 22:58

LK - there's an open air pool at the leisure centre in Ashby - never been to it though

meridian · 19/01/2008 09:10

I'm about 15 min from derby, there is a garden centre with a coffee shop and small craft shop in little eaton... there is always starbucks!... erm or is that just me that goes there ahem I don't drive so I would have to go by bus or train to anywhere to far, or it would have to be a tuesday when DH is off work so he can play martyered taxi driver.

there is a dunelm in derby erm there the new Mall! and now there are 4 starbucks!

lol Meri
Dressedup is in Long Eaton.

Look, come to me in lovely North Yorkshire.
We have a Boyes who sell cheap fabric and lots of craft stuff.

And just for Meridian, we have a Costa Coffee

meridian · 19/01/2008 10:38

nbg- LOL.. well as long as there is decent coffee!... will have to organize it with my dh as to getting up there would have to be a tuesday or thursday or a sunday though as DH dosent work on tue or sun (unless he has a wedding or a wedding fair) then it becomes a family day out to places and not just some bizarre scheme of mine... though he can't really complain about meeting people on the internet, cuz thats how we met

jeangenie · 21/01/2008 10:43

rantinghousewife · 21/01/2008 10:44

Yes, am only 40 minutes away from London, I would be interested in that JG.

jeangenie · 21/01/2008 10:51

ok, will start separate thread and see if can drum up any more interest...send anyone you find over that way

meridian · 21/01/2008 12:03

NBG, and Ginger- have informed my dh about going up your way for a meet up and he said ok, possibly only becuse I said we could go into York too and go to his favorite bread shop down the shambles

lucykate- I mentioned Ikea to my DH and he said fine.. only so he can have meatballs though... and we did just break 2 coffee cups recently so would be up for a meet at IKEA sometime...

Jeangenie & Rantinghousewife - I'm in Berkshire (just south of Reading) if there is a Southern Spin Off.

I'm not brave enough to drive into London but I'm very close to the M4 and so the M40 is accessible too.

I'll watch out for the Southern thread

Yorky · 21/01/2008 12:18

Hello Southereners, I've just moved to Oxfordshire so if there's anything going on around the M40 then it sounds like fun

jeangenie · 21/01/2008 12:26

southern crafters click here

Tillyboo · 21/01/2008 13:10

Yorky - where are you in Oxfordshire ? I was born there, lived and worked there (all over the County) but now in Berkshire ...

Nbg · 21/01/2008 16:15

Hey meri thats great.

Well let me know when your up for it.

lucykate · 21/01/2008 16:20

mmmm, ikea meatballs are yummy!

so, who could potentially get to ikea in nottingham?, i think it's just off junction 26 of the m1
