so who is stull up for a get together live and in person? any suggestions as to where? when?

I know there aren't that many large enough craft shops but I could call around some coffee and tea shops to find somewhere to house us.

I'm near Derby and if my house wasn't so small I would gladly have it here. But I will bring homemade cakes and cookies!

anyone intrested

Carterton, nr Witney

Gingermonkey · 22/01/2008 08:53

I can do ikea at nottingham. Nottingham's only 45 mins for me (if I drive a bit too quickly)

lucykate · 22/01/2008 09:37

ikea takes about 1 hour 15 mins from me, depends on the traffic, its not that far but it's just slow going to get to the m1, country lanes all the way.

so, who's up for it???

ikea, nottingham

meet up, go for coffee & cake, do a bit of shopping, then lunch (or meatballs) in their cafe?

if it's a wednesday, i will be on my own, any other day, will just bring ds with me

i can get there for about 10.30-11ish, but will have to leave at 2 t get back to pick dd up from school, but may be able to arrange an after school play date for her instead

Tillyboo · 22/01/2008 11:19

Yorky - I lived in Witney (twice) and went to Primary School there so I know the area quite well.

Gingermonkey · 22/01/2008 12:58

i'm up for it!

meridian · 22/01/2008 19:22

I'm up for ikea, any day is good as long as I know in advance so i can organize DS.

OP posts:

any more?

i'll check with dh as we need to sit down with our calendar and sort it, so will post later with times i can do for the next couple of weeks

meridian · 23/01/2008 13:35

cool.. sounds good to me... looking forward to it!

OP posts:
lucykate · 23/01/2008 13:38

ps, we are skint atm, and it's tax return time of year for dh, so would be best for me if it was after then end of the month, i just cannot set foot in ikea and not buy anything, but we do need a toddler high chair for ds, and some peg rails, oh the list goes on and on...

lucykate · 23/01/2008 13:40

yoo hoo, dizzy & dressedup, are you both up for meet up?

dizzyday07 · 23/01/2008 13:55

Tuesday is the best day for me (as DD not at school) but I'll have to bring her with me!!

Every other day she's at preschool in the morning so I probably can't make it as she's there for only 3 hrs and it takes me at least 45mins each way.

Though my mum is supopsed to be staying towards the end of the month as DH is off the USA - and she could pick DH from school - I will have to check dates

lucykate · 23/01/2008 14:39

dizzy, if we met on a tuesday, i'll have my ds with me too (he's 2.5), so she'll have someone to entertain her!

anyway, that's the beauty of ikea, there's plenty of stuff for kids to play around with. plus there's the creche, they can have a play for 45 mins in there if they are over 3

meridian · 23/01/2008 17:21

if its a tuesday there is a possibility for my dh and ds (4) to tag along,

DH goes over all Homer Simpson where meatballs are concerned. they can be ditched though

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 23/01/2008 19:04

If Swedish Craft Day is tues my DS (nearly 2.5) will prob be with me too (and trying to thieve everything from the kids' dept). DH will most def not be, as he has an ikea allergy .

meridian · 23/01/2008 23:22

ok so which tuesday then.. there is tuesday the 29th of Jan, which is next week and might be too short of notice, the week after is the 5th of Feburary... or later on in feb?

I'm avalible both... and I do need now new coffee cups... and kitchen scissors... and other things that DH will grumble at me for...

OP posts:
lucykate · 24/01/2008 13:10

as far as tuesdays go, i can do the 29th, 5th, 12th, but not the 19th

dizzyday07 · 24/01/2008 14:46

I can do any

meridian · 24/01/2008 19:19

GingerMonkey- what about you? are the 29th 5th or 12th good?

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 24/01/2008 22:05

Def can't do the 29th. Think either the 5th or the 12th are ok (but will double check tomorrow)
Ooooh, it's exciting isn't it?!

meridian · 25/01/2008 09:27

so Swedish Crafts Day will be on Tuesday the 5th or the 12th .. around 11ish ?

GM?

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 25/01/2008 13:44

11's good for me. Either of those days is fine. I don't have any preference at all. Meri - if I start stroking your hair when I meet you don't be alarmed, I'm not weird really, honest (just incredibly jealous of it)
Thankfully my hair will no longer be a peculiar mix of Janice Battersby shades by the time we have the Swedish Craft Day, and that makes me VERY happy

lucykate · 25/01/2008 16:21

shall we make it the 5th then, strike while the irons hot?

i have to confess, i've not met any other mumsnetters, having previously decided to avoid meet ups etc, but that was before i took up camp in the a&c section

i'll shave my hairy arms and leave the truck at home, promise!

Gingermonkey · 25/01/2008 16:58

We are a special clique, aren't we?
The 5th it is! I hope DS behaves, he has a tendency to be a right pain when we meet new people (and is normally so nice, honest!)

meridian · 25/01/2008 19:20

right then Swedish Crafts Day is oficially on the 5th!

I have met a few people via Frizbe but other than that its been um 10 years or so when I met several friends from University internet chatting days... one of them is my husband so i cant really complain

gm- dont worry my ds is probably worse, he is 4 going on 14 or 54 depending on his mood... he will pretend he is shy for about 5 minutes before he starts showing off... really should get him an agent.
