Would anyone be interested in a monthly/bimonthly A&C swap?

Since there are a lot of us & we cover a lot of different crafts I wondered if anyone would be interested in the occasional swap? It wouldn't be for big stuff, just little knick-knacks like lavender bags, corsages, things like that, or if you don't want to make something then maybe wee crafty bits for your recipient to play with. I thought if we set a theme & a price limit then let everyone just do their own thing. I mean, who doesn't like free stuff (especially hand-made free stuff)?

I'd be happy to co-ordinate it & we wouldn't all be expected to take part in every swap - just sign up to the ones you fancy as & when they're posted. We can tailor our swaps to reflect special holidays etc. If any swap has less than 3 participants it'll be postponed or abandoned.

Can anyone who would be interested please post here & also email me on Floralmac at aol dot com. Also ideas for themes would be appreciated. If you could copy & paste the questionnairre below into your post then you'll stand a better chance of getting things you'll like

I'll go first

Rather than have a specific item to swap I think we should stick to different themes & all send either 1 medium or 2 small items (you'll know yourself going by crafting time & materials what constitutes small or medium for your particular hobby) - I figured with the range of different crafts covered a general theme would give us all the best chance. The 1 medium or 2 small is the basic guideline - if you have a little something extra that you know your particular partner will love (some ribbons or buttons, a little fabric or yarn, some scrummy choc etc) feel free to include these if you want to

I'll post the theme, allow 2 weeks for sign-ups then post partners & allow say 4 weeks for crafting. That way we'll have one roughly every 2 months & folks can by-pass any that don't inspire them. Depending on numbers we may have to have the odd 3-way swap (oo-er!).

I'll be posting our first swap on Monday (28th).

Lovely

Will email you now, m'dear.

Gingermonkey · 24/01/2008 22:06

I'm very excited about this....am I really, really sad?

GreebosWhiskers · 25/01/2008 08:49

Nope, not sad at all. I'm doing a dishcloth swap just now on Ravelry - I'm sending 2 crocheted valentine-themed cloths to a woman in the US & she's sending me 2 knitted ones back. And I've been having a great time choosing patterns for them. For dishcloths! Now that's sad

I'm doing a box swap too with someone from the Ankh-Morpork Knitters Guild & have been racking my brain trying to come up with Discworld-related stuff. I've finished some stuff & have plans for the rest but it's a big swap so I'm glad I have 'til the end of Feb to post it.

Will blog everything once the lady in question has received it.

Swaps are fab

WigWamBam · 25/01/2008 16:45

Have emailed you again, GW - let me know if this one doesn't turn up.

meridian · 27/01/2008 08:43
Fubsy · 28/01/2008 16:02

GW - I looked at dishcloths after you said you were doing swaps on ravelry - I have got to make tyhe one with the skull!

Do you use them, or just admire them?

I have to say, I knitted one, just straight garter stitch with dishcloth cotton, and its lasting much better than a shop bought one.

GreebosWhiskers · 29/01/2008 09:32

Fubsy - not sure if I'll have the heart to use them on our manky dishes after someone's put all that effort into making them. I might just hang them on the wall

Mine are all parceled up ready to go & I forgot to get pics I crocheted them both & did a pale green square one with a filet crochet heart in the middle (my own design & pretty basic as it was my first cloth) & this one done using a strand of pale pink & a strand of cream held together. Hats off to the designer as it was a doddle to do but looked amazing - I'm gonna do one just for me.

JackBlackRoady - of course you can join in too
