Printing in gold/silver

For those of you who would like to print in gold or silver I found this handy hint on another site.

In Word choose click on the tool bar where you can change the colour of the text. In my version of MS Word that's a bold, underlined Capital A.
Then choose 'More Colors', then 'Custom' and make sure you have RGB selected in 'Color Model'.
Then enter the numbers in the appropriate boxes as given below.

Gold / Red 204 / Green 204/ Blue 0

Silver/Red 151/ Green 151/ Blue 149

They are matt but quite effective.

I'll have a go when I get the chance, thanks AQ.
Out of interest, I have been told that, if you are quick off the mark, you can heat emboss prints as soon as the come off the printer. Haven't got round to trying that either.

Dingle you are a superstar!!!!
It works a treat. First attemppt didn't as printed in pale blue thinking it would be easy to cover but the powder didn't seem to stick so printed it off in black using thick bold font, poured on the powder and HEY PRESTO

i wish i'd read this 1 hour ago...i've been making gift tags by printing them off, going over them with an embossing pen, them powder, heat. this would have made it a lot quicker and sharper.

thank you

I am making invites for our God-Daughter's Communion and needed these settings. I thought a few of the newer cardmakers might be interested in this.
I haven't tried all the colour variations, but it is really easy to do. I will make myself a chart in excel so I will always have the settings to hand!

How sad am I?

Thanks AQ!

Champs - if I put it on paper, I can never find it underneath the reams of paper, card, craft mags, embellishments! My mum was making cards too, but now she spends so much time at the hospital on dialysis she has given me all her stock!
My conservatory looks like it has been hit by a whirlwind! I am slowly, but surely organising it!

We got a bumper pack of notebooks because we can never find one when we want one, that was months ago.....only just found them again. I think I hid them so that ds wouldn't use them all!

I am alone in this.

I'll try this out thanks actually I've got a colour printer next to me in work I'll try it here.
Now you are going to think I'm really thick but what is a bump & what is a thread & if you have got cards to show where do you put them & how can I see other peoples cards please.

Report
Dingle · 21/04/2005 10:51

A thread is simply a subject posted, therefore this would be the "printing in gold/silver"thread.

To bump, means to put a message in a thread to bring it to the top of the "active" for someone to see.

AQ has fairly recently set up a Yahoo site where we are loading our cards. You can see others cards on The Gallery thread, using general a general ID and password, but to load your own it is best you set up your own Yahoo ID. AQ is the best person to see you through this!{grin]HTH

Before I asked you the question about a site for posting cards I sent one to the site help desk yesterday just got this reply from them.

don't think we do, though I know there was some talk of card-making mumsnetters putting something collective on the small business sections.

Probably best if you ask the other card-makers on site and see if that's in the offing.

If there's a collective wish for pics in this area we'll certianly talk about it at our next meeting (May)

Hope that helps
