Printing in gold/silver

For those of you who would like to print in gold or silver I found this handy hint on another site.

In Word choose click on the tool bar where you can change the colour of the text. In my version of MS Word that's a bold, underlined Capital A.
Then choose 'More Colors', then 'Custom' and make sure you have RGB selected in 'Color Model'.
Then enter the numbers in the appropriate boxes as given below.

Gold / Red 204 / Green 204/ Blue 0

Silver/Red 151/ Green 151/ Blue 149

They are matt but quite effective.

I tried out the gold & silver settings and thought "No way! That gold looks so green! It'll never look right..." and to my utter surprise - it works! You don't even really notice that they're matt.

Tried the formulas for gold & silver.
Realy impressed.

Lost the notepad with all the settings on again, so I thought I'd bump this at the same time!!

Will have to sort out my "craft files" on the PC so that I have somewhere I can store things and it won't take hours to find them again.

I've got windows XP and I only seem to have the basic colours. I don't have any options for more colours. Is there anythign I can dop to get this option?

Jayzmummy · 05/05/2005 19:45

When you click on more colours there should be an option at the top of the screen which says custom colours. Thats where you can change the colour settings.

Is there a way I can print gold/silver in excel?

In word I get the option for customising colours, but in excel all I get is the standard option!

SaintGeorge · 15/05/2005 12:43

Dingle - in Excel go to Tools, Options and then click the colour tab. Click the custom tab. You will have to modify an existing colour but afterwards you can click on reset and it will change it back to the original setting. Probably best to overwrite the settings for white because if anything goes wrong it is the easiest to manually reset (255, 255, 255)

OH yes, Thank you, thank you, it's easy when you know how!

Dingle · 05/06/2005 12:59

Found this and thought it might be useful if anyone wants to print a particular colour. I am playing around trying to find the best copper colour ATM. I love working in copper but I think sometimes the lettering lets it down.

Dingle · 05/06/2005 13:15

For copper try 205 115 0

or for a darker shade I think I used sienna.

Carolinett · 05/06/2005 13:38

Wow
