Roman blind - what’ve I done wrong?

Hi all
I jubilantly mounted my first ever home made Roman blind today - but it looks like this 😭
It’s as though the front material is flipping off the liner. The liner is beautifully folded behind.

What have I done wrong people?

All help / ideas on how to fix appreciated!!!
(I have another wider one waiting to be finished and that’s going to be even worse I think!?!!

Have you got a string running down the centre, as well as one running down each edge? If not, you need one. If you already have one, that string seems to have come loose. Looks lovely and neat though and I like your fabric

As pp said you need the strings and ring set up in the middle as well, if it’s a large window you need a few strings at various points across he middle

There are four cords on the back all seem to be working well as the lining rises and folds perfectly. Just the front material hangs heavily ‘coming off its backing’.

Can the front material be too heavy?
It’s kind of heavy. Like a velour. 😬

We need to see what you’ve done at the back.
The two fabrics may need attaching to each other? In the middle. I’ve only ever made one and it was a lot smaller with lighter fabrics.

Yes, I think you need to attach the front fabric to the liner to stop the bagging.

Yes, Smartiepants is right. We need to see the other side of the blind.
Ordinarily, you’d use tape going horizontally across the blind at intervals. They have pockets along the width into which you’d insert thin rods. They create the pleats. The strings that run vertically then pass through loops in the tapes to allow the blind to be lowered and raised.
Photo of the back would most likely identify the problem

Are your horizontal rod pockets sewn on through both layers of fabric? When the blind is down, you should be able to see the horizontal lines of stitching from one side to the other. So if you have 4 rods on the back, 4 rows of stitching.

Have you stab stitched the lining to the face fabric at every point there is a ring/eyelet that the cords pass through? Photo of the back of the blind will help

You need to do some stab stitching so the material of the blind moves with the lighter lining material, otherwise it bags.

I think you're missing some rods/dowelling along them to get your pleats. Then a centre attachment too,

No it does that even if the dowling is inserted.

If she isn't wanting to see stitching lines on the front (which would fix it) she needs to do a lot of stab stitching (basically tiny stitches that just and so pick up a thread of the front material) so that the front and back materials move together. If you have a heavier fabric on the front than the lining it's really common for this to happen.

Looks good OP but yes, needs some stitches to hold the fabrics together or if you don't want to do that then another string might work.
Can you send us a pic of the back? That will help see exactly the next best steps.
I have made them before without having to bring the stitches the whole way through to the front fabric.

I’ve taken the blind down and am going to do the stab stitches. I had a google and despite the instructional vids I watched not having these, I do see it’s a common thing. I think the fabric is fluffy enough to hide the stitches.

Yes I’ve got the rods on the back.
I bought the John Lewis kit. It came with loop tap but the vids I’d seen made the rod pockets out of folds in the lining which I’ve done.

I’ve got four rods and four circle loops seen across each rod.
The blind is 116wide 114 height.
