Very pretty!! Got a real 70's tank top on the go. Very Liver birds!! And a crochet bag made with R2 rag wool.

I'm still doing this at the moment but I've run out of yarn so I'm twiddling my thumbs until I can afford to buy some more!!

Then I really want to knit this though I'm not sure what colours to use (and also I think it would cost a bit too much to make, though I wouldn't use the wool they have used!)

Very nice Pruners. I'm knitting a scottie dog cardigan from Erika Knight's book. I say knitting I'm knitting it, but I've nearly finished it actually and trying to decide what to do next.

oh my mum made that cardian for ds, daisy

its LOVELY. But it comes out oddly small, even though, remarkably, she had swatched...

It fitted dd nicely, who is 2 years younger...

She is a reasonably tight knitter and unusually, gets tighter, not looser, as she progresses. I have been tempted to do a remake but for various reasons think I'd use a dk weight (I think its 4 ply?)

It is quite small, but after having already making the socks in the book which were teeny-tiny, I had planned to make it larger. The width seems OK, although ds is fairly skinny, so I just made it a bit longer. Oddly the arms are really really long, even allowing for turning the cuff up, so I had to make them smaller! The two patterns I've made have also used consistently less wool than stated - by a whole ball each time! And I did do a swatch too, so it's not that...

Yes, it's 4 ply, and as I said, it uses less wool than stated, so only cost about £7 to make using Jaeger wool, which I thought was pretty good.

i am making a dennis the menace jumper (red and black stripes) for ds2, got half way up the front and he tells me he will wear it when he is being naughty not sure its such a good idea any more

also half way through a bootee and half way through a toy frog. still have other bootees to stitch but think ds4 may have outgrown them by now

yes its length that was the problem for us. It fitted ds, who is also very skinny, like a bolaro. Now he loves anything pink and sparkly so that suited him just fine, but he did outgrow it even in bolero configuration in just a few weeks.

Can I join in? Often lurk around on this topic, but not posted before.

Spent my Fri and Sat evenings doing a few rows of a cabled cushion cover. Being brave and making my own pattern, and won't have enough yarn for the second side. Who do you all rate for web/mail order supplies?

Love the sweater that Pruners is making. Thinking about my next project....

Leo 35, I've found texere give excellent service and a good choice of yarns here and dragon yarns here aswell. A lot of people swear by angel yarns, I'm not one of them, had a very bad experience with them but you might find them good. Why don't you post a photo of your cushion covers, I'm mightily impressed that you made your own pattern for them.

Miaou, they are excellent, aren't they!! Really want to go to the actual mill and have a good 'feel' of everything. Got the last issue of Simply knitting and they had a gorgeous bag pattern made with texere 'Bella' wool that looked absolutely beautiful. I may give it a whirl.

I've made two jumpers in Provence cotton and I'm really pleased with it - it washes beautifully and dries fairly quickly too.

Has anyone tried Kool Kotton from Texere? It sounds as though it might be like Rowan's All Seasons, but it's very cheap!

ooh I like this stuff! I'm not a purist when it comes to yarn and quite like the idea of a bung-in-the-machine cardi. I have found a fab pattern for one knitted in the round - very tempted by that wool ...

Yes I've thought about buying that wool, it looks reassuringly cosy and reminds me of those 70s style knitted rugs, which I should add, is a good thing in my book.

oooh not at all, ranting - we could compare end results! (after all, we are hardly likely to turn up to a party both wearing the same cardi )

Thinking about it overnight, I have decided it would be too thick and heavy in the marble wool. In my local wool shop they have huge balls of wool that go very gradually from dark to light, so you can knit a sweater with it that ends up with that "dip-dyed" look, IYKWIM. I might get that and do the cardi with it - it's not such a heavy wool and I think it would be quite a fun effect, knitted as it is in the round.
