No. But there is a problem whereby photos uploads on the app don't show up on the desktop site.

That said, I can't see it on the app either 🤔

SoupDragon · 12/12/2018 20:18

Crochet - Can you work out this Santa pattern

I can see the little santa it's cute!

I think what they have done is a magic circle, then worked a round of double crochet into that in pink. Then the beard is also doubles worked into the centre magic ring.

The hat I think is a half, single, then a doubles worked into the edge of the pink stitches.

That is all purely hazarding a guess from the photo

BillywigSting · 12/12/2018 22:16

Actually looking at it more closely the beard and hat might be trebels

BillywigSting · 12/12/2018 22:18

In fact no, I think the beard is a round of single crochet (note how the white goes all the way around) with a few doubles for the bushy bit

rememberatime · 12/12/2018 22:22

This is how I would do it.

In white:
Chain 4 and join
Round 1: DC into centre of circle 24 times ( you'll need to make these really close to each other to get the look of the beard and the majority will be on the lower part of the circle)
Round 2: DC 1, TR around 12 times, DC 1 and fasten off

In red (for hat):

Starting one DC in from where you finished with white, DC1,TR 8 times, DC1

Use a needle to sew in nose and pom pom and stick on eyes with glue. it looks like makeup or paint has been used to make the "face" a Rosy colour.

Someone else is likely to give you a better version - my skills are rusty!

BillywigSting · 12/12/2018 22:23

Sorry I'll stop spamming your thread now!

So for the white bit, half of the first round is worked into the very centre, in the very middle of the pink stitches (that gives those long bits for the main part of the beard), and half is worked into the outside of the pink stitches. Then when you get back to the start of the first round in white, you do half a round of doubles (might be pictot stitch?) in the normal way to get the frilly looking bit.

rememberatime · 12/12/2018 22:27

Actually think Billy is right - the face is constructed using a round of DCs, followed by an overlay of more DCs (also going into the centre but with longer stitches) on the lower portion to get the beard effect. but still a total of 24/26 stitches all the way around - I think.

You might need to play around with the number of stitches to get it right proportions.

SassitudeandSparkle · 12/12/2018 22:27

This is similar enough to adapt

www.amyscrochetpatterns.com/2016/10/crochet-santa-with-video.html

but bear in mind that it is American crochet terms, so a single crochet in the pattern is a double in the UK

rememberatime · 12/12/2018 22:29

now I'm tempted to get out my hook and have a go... but it's bed time!

BillywigSting · 12/12/2018 22:37

No the pink face is different stitches you can tell from the texture /joins. I think the white is half worked over the top.

So in pink :25 (I think) dc into centre, join at start with a slip stitch and fasten off

In white:
Work 12 single crochet in centre circle working over the top of the pink, then 13 sc in the normal way. Picot stitch (sc, ch 1, sc) in each 'long' sc. Fasten off

In red, starting at the normal white sc, half crochet in the first stitch, single in the next double in next, triple in the next three.

Glue on pom pom and eyes

Hippychick78 · 12/12/2018 22:54

Agggggggh u guys!!!!

Ill spend more time looking at it tomorrow. I'm confused as to how the beard goes over the pink wool face so need to sit and really study and have a go. I'm away with mum at the minute so should be able to try tomorrow

She's American so that's kik can convert stitches

Yous are amazing. If anyone tries do let me know

He's very retro and cute and it would just be amazing if we could work it out between us

🎅

Mission invisible 🎅 ....... Go!!!! 😂

Hippychick78 · 12/12/2018 22:56

I'm not a very accomplished crocheter and just don't have the skill to look and know just yet. I can make a blanket the size of a house but this baffles

OP posts:
BillywigSting · 12/12/2018 23:05

For the long stitches in the beard, put your hook right through the very middle of the pink circle, yarn over and pull through. Just like a normal sc. You get the long effect because of where you put the hook in

Hippychick78 · 12/12/2018 23:22

Ahhhhhh that makes sense I think I just need to try. I've only blanket will with me which just won't do

May I show my blanket 😂
