I'm looking for a new mindless knit or crochet project to do in front of the TV or at the local knit group.
I craft for charity/ woolly hugs and have a stash of stylecraft DK to get through.
I don't mind what i make, clothes, hats, scarves, ... I usually do blankets but fancy a bit of change.

Lurking :)

6 day kids blanket crochet. There is a group on facebook or the pattern is on ravelry. Once first set of repeats is over you are on a role. Looks way more complicated than it is.

I'm crocheting poppies at the moment and not really enjoying it but it will be great to raise a bit of cash for a good cause.

Other than that, I've a nice simple top (two squares sewn together with sleeves crocheted on in the round) and a double bed spread on the go.

My suggestions are jam jar toppers or covering a round footstool?

MrsBobDylan · 30/10/2018 13:02

Last Christmas I really enjoyed crocheting my nieces ponchos. As far as I'm aware they've never worn them but it made me happy!

moocowmrs · 30/10/2018 13:02

Corner to corner crochet is great for mindfulness it’s juat repeated pattern x

I've just finished my first one of these mitts, very straightforward, just a fiddly bit starting the thumb, you could always make some for the WH refugee project.

Another vote for corner to corner for completely mindless crochet.

I also like a ripple, I don't use the Attic24 pattern but on with a deeper ripple - basically it's just one simple repeat so once you get going you don't have to think about it.

The Call the Midwife blanket it fairly easy once you've got going.

TwitterQueen1 · 30/10/2018 13:42

How about dog blankets or coats / sweaters? I've just done a quick search and there appear to be patterns around.

TheFairyCaravan · 30/10/2018 13:47

Attic 24 Cosy Stripe is what I do when I don't want to concentrate. I usually use my own colour scheme.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/10/2018 13:51

how on earth can there be controversy on a knitting thread?

Meet0nTheIedge · 30/10/2018 13:54
Shock
TwitterQueen1 · 30/10/2018 13:54

I know this is bad of me but I really want to know what the deleted post was! This is about CROCHET and KNITTING!!!!

EthelHornsby · 30/10/2018 13:54

Knitted socks - you only have to concentrate for heel and toe, otherwise very mindlessly

Raglansleeve · 30/10/2018 13:59

FairyCaravan, I'm doing a Cosy Stripe at the moment - perfect for in front of the TV. I tried doing a neat wave but kept getting it wrong so obvs needs a bit more concentration! Lucy's hydrangea blanket is also good when you don't want to think about what you're doing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/10/2018 14:06

The neat wave took me several stripes with stitch markers in before I got the hang of it.

florenceheadache · 30/10/2018 14:21

I’m knitting dishcloths, the massive cotton ball does 10.

SoupDragon · 30/10/2018 15:04

I've just posted this scarf on another thread. It's pretty mindless.

The deleted post was a great piece of spam about a spell casting Dr who could solve your marriage problems and stop your cheating husband from straying!

Miscible · 30/10/2018 15:52

Has anyone tried the cosy strip blanket in variegated wool - i.e. without changing colours but with a degree of self-striping in the wool - and did it work? I've got some that I want to use up in a blanket for charity, but I'm bored with granny squares and C2C. Or can anyone suggest an alternative blanket pattern within the mindless category?

SoupDragon · 30/10/2018 16:16

How long is the colour repeat? I can't see why it wouldn't work. Have you looked through the projects for it on Ravelry to see if someone's done it? What yarn is it?

SoupDragon · 30/10/2018 16:18

This one has some rows in a variegated yarn.

TwitterQueen1 · 30/10/2018 16:55

Thanks Tarquin Halloween Grin

qazxc · 31/10/2018 10:41

Thanks for all the suggestions!
In the past I have done:
Blankets
Lots of join as you go granny square ones
spice of life
attic 24 ripple
attic 24 granny stripe
call the midwife
diamond flower
star shaped blankets
all of the above are crochet and easy enough to master.

Clothing wise I tend to prefer to knit (I feel it makes for a softer fabric):
Beanie hats
purperium cardigan
in three's cardigan
Close to you scarf
Wingspan scarf/shawl
Virus shawl (this one is crochet)
