Or do I have to buy another book?

On a similar note, can anyone tell me what weight the yarn suggested for the baby kimono in M&D is? I know they love their dishcloth cotton, but I'm in Yorkshire and they don't sell it at the local yarn shop

I can get cotton anywhere, I just need to know what weight.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

I think just DK cotton would be fine.

I saw someone mention it was done on 4.5mm needles.

think I am going to have to buy it!

I was hoping DK would be fine. It looks like such a nice simple pattern to play with. As for buying it, I would, but there are two lovely ladies at my local knitting group who own it so I shall borrow it from one of them when I get the cotton

I just need to get of my bum and knit the opal sock yarn I was gifted into a baby cardigan first. Gah!

I have ordered it from Amazon

It's a lovely book, and there are some nice patterns in there. I'm sure you'll love it much. I love the 'squid ring' knitting near the back that they did with the kids. Genius!

I'm just a cheapskate Well, that and perpetually skint

Book arrived this morning. It's DK cotton (says worsted weight but I think that's how it translates) and 4mm needles.

You are a star! Thank you for sharing

Am doing a log cabin blankie next with my Mn stash of bright dk cottons

Idreamofdaleks · 26/06/2007 12:19

I got it yesterday! I am loving log cabin too!

Ceolas · 26/06/2007 12:21

White cotton has arrived today. I will be starting this tonight. Need a break from the apple tree blanket (which is 3/5 done and getting heavy!)

I bought the Mason Dixon book too , am trying out some felted boxes

Ceolas · 26/06/2007 12:24

Did we all buy it because I was going on about it...?

are you on commission?

actually I'd been reading about them for a while and it was a good price on amazon (and needed to order book group book...) - doesn't take much for me to indulge in knitting-related-porn

Ceolas · 26/06/2007 12:57

Wondering if I was a trend-setter!

I like reading knitting books, even if I don't actually knit anything!

OP posts:

sometimes I just stroke them

you simply reminded me of the MD book's existence

Marina · 27/06/2007 09:15

It wasn't on my radar at present so yes Ceolas, I blame you ! And thank you heartily for bringing it to my attention.
I am going to Johnny Loulou's tomorrow bundy, ostensibly to buy work-related leaving gift, but I may well get lost and end up in haberdashery too for a spot of self-gratification

bundle · 27/06/2007 15:02

sigh marina..

actually in the last couple of weeks I've bought the Mason Dixon, about £30 worth of books on offer from rowan, a couple of balls of rowan denim and some rowan 100% wool (for my felt boxes) so feel I ought to ease off a bit..

Ceolas · 27/06/2007 15:43

I have finished the back, sleeves and one of the fronts of the little kimono last night!

DH is out tonight so I will get the rest done

oooh i love mason dixon, its very...amercian knitting iykwim.

its one of my looking-at books, not my making-stuff-from books but...

i keep meaning to make the log cabin thingy when i win the lottery

ceolas-sorry, if I'd seen this in time I'd have helped you out

Ceolas · 28/06/2007 08:59

No worries filly. Did you get ever sorted with a doll for your DS?

OP posts:
fillyjonk · 28/06/2007 09:01

he has fallen in love with baby sodding luke (£16, elc)

i tried to push other dolls on him but no, baby luke (i think its an eyebrow thing)

chez filly, £16 = birthday present so...

but then i feel bad as i am possibly stunting him in some way

i am really holding out for a charity shop find

Ceolas · 28/06/2007 09:07

Why stunting?

I think I have a naked Luke...

OP posts:
Marina · 28/06/2007 14:38

Luke who? Can check our toy stash maybe?
I spent a cough-tastic amount on colourful Rowan and Debbie Bliss cotton dk for that log cabin thingy this morning and I feel wonderful (and broke)
