If so are you also panicking mildly?

I have decided to make dd a waldorf doll
and dp a board game
and because I am making stuff for everyone else, will have to make something for ds

I had it in mind to knit jumpers for my childen a la Molly Weasley, but I don't think they would wear them regretably...

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 16:04

tick, I have kind of been on a course and I have actually made several

they are piss easy, the faff is sewing on the hair

which is what I am now doing, and why I have been on MN all afternoon when any sane person would have been...I dunno, doing someething productive

I can talk you through it if you want

greenytha...you are mad! no, sorry, there is no other word.

DG gwan gwan mwhahahaha...

you're right we are mad...we moved house on 16th December too

Like the idea of making dolls but am too wussy to attempt it.

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 16:06

second the extra day thing

shall we all email MN towers and see if they can sort it for us?

But dond't the Weasleys mildly loathe their mother's creations?

Last time I knitted a jumper for any of my chidren it was for dd and it was beautiful though I say it myself and really trendy, and the little madam has only ever worn it when I have made her!

Oh and I also made a Father Christmas for ds1 out of crochet circles about 8 years ago - took me ages - and it is the one cuddly toy he never touches.

So is it worth it in the long run?

hana · 26/10/2006 16:07

am making duvets and matching pillowcases for dd1 and dd2 and if i get around to it, aprons for the kitchen for them as well

am always far more ambitious than what realistically gets done.....

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 16:07

am starting to think that there is something mildly weird about a woman in her 30th year sat wrestling a nose onto a doll, tbh.

One of the nicest presents I ever got was unexpectedly from a friend

and it was a simple metal plantpot with a couple of jewels on it planted with 3 hyacinth bulbs

me ... I buy loads and loads of crap .. gaudy crap .. breakable crap ..plastic crap .. throwable away crap .. expensive crap

well it IS christmas and someone has to stand up for traditional values don't they?

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 16:08

hana thay sound lovely

dd yes cos then you have that bleary eyed but satisfied feeling. but if thats not your bag then...maybe...no...

ah gwan

my god I am so going to be taking pictures of the finished product and posting inmember profiles. oh yes. there shall be no escape.

(but really...dollmaking is sad, isn't it? scale of one to 10, knitting cool at 10, macrame at 1)

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 26/10/2006 16:21

I so want to see that pic FJ!

Macrame 1? I used to know how to make lovely hanging pot holders from macrame and I was going to make loads for my own kitchen, but I don't know how to now...

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 26/10/2006 16:43

oh thats just my list, dg. I mean, I hear there are some people who wouldn't put knitting at a 10

I thin the key word here is 'cleverly'. I don't think it would be a clever decision if I made presents.

VermiciousKnid · 26/10/2006 16:58

choc truffles are a lovely homemade gift

but they can be darned expensive to make

BudaBeast · 26/10/2006 17:20

Well I made a necklace today and am planning on making more for Xmas. Very pleased with my first attempt!

anorak · 26/10/2006 17:26

I've made several vats of booze. Sloe gin, raspberry vodka, ginger wine, cherry liqueur, rosehip gin...

I plan to make cakes en masse a couple of days before Christmas too. Have bought a pack of massive paper cases for family sized cupcakes. Love cherry cake with white icing and a cherry on top.

Greensleeves · 26/10/2006 17:35

Homemade cherry liqueur

I'm impressed!! And

Molesworth · 26/10/2006 17:39

ooh what sort of necklace BB?

Tillyboo · 26/10/2006 17:46

Yes, I am
and YES, i'm panicking !
Canvas painting for brother & wife
Floor cushions for 2 neices
Floor cushions for friends sons
and enough stuff to take to school Xmas fare

Am I mad or what ?
And, fitting in a trip to Disneyland Paris too.

This thread on the doll has made me chuckle, thanks for the light-relief. I quite fancy making one but not til next year me thinks ......
