Any thoughts on the http://m.createandcraft.tv/product/338578?istCompanyId=e71fb28f-4f7c-4c3e-aa2f-d1f940d48843&istItemId=pmlqwlpam&istBid=tztx&gclid=CjwKEAiAmaanBRCIt4364e2d6yUSJAA9VXTU7rwFcuQgmYs1_eOlS13yo74TYFUNZnynASGdDYQ0TBoCFZ_w_wcB dress made on GBSB?

Really like the look of it, but wondering if it would suit someone that isn't talk, with a curvy figure.

:-)

Well it's 50s so a curvy figure is what's it's all about. Looked v cool on the prog.

RunsWithScissors · 22/02/2015 21:00

Thanks for replying Littlef00t.

Might look for some interesting fabric and have a go. :-)

Sorry for the link fail

Agree that it would look good on anyone who's boobs stick out further than their waist. Only 4 pattern pieces means the fit needs to be spot on though, especially the dart placement, probably need to make a trial first in cheap material

RunsWithScissors · 22/02/2015 21:50

I agree that a trial run would be needed. Luckily I received a dressmaking dummy for Christmas, so that should also help.

Thank you Pomeral

That is lovely. I need to improve at sewing!

RunsWithScissors · 23/02/2015 00:21

MrsMinton me too, figure the best way to improve is to give it a whirl and see how it goes :-)

I was pondering just the same thing earlier. Sadly no one gave me a dressmaker's dummy for Christmas but I'd really like one. I'm short in the body so I guess I may need to alter the fit a bit. It's been ages since I used a paper pattern but they have them at half price in our local shop.

lucysmam · 05/03/2015 09:25

Runs, I was just wondering if you have bought the pattern yet? I watched that episode last night on iPlayer & was quite taken with the dress.

poppyinstitches · 05/03/2015 23:37

its a great pattern and not difficult to make, the pattern is also in the Sewing Bee book that has just come out.

PigeonPie · 06/03/2015 20:36

I've got the pattern but haven't got quite the right fabric for it at the moment (the Liberty Lawn I bought in the sale years and years ago is too light).

I'm hoping it'll suit someone who isn't tall as I'm only 5'. I will get the pattern out at some point and make a copy (I always do this so that a different size can be made!) and have a look at it all.

RunsWithScissors · 08/03/2015 21:02

Awaiting delivery of the pattern now lucy

pigeon I'm also about 5 ft, so will need to do some adjusting as well. Think once the pattern arrives I am definitely going to get some cheap fabric to do a test run on.

:-)

I was wondering how clear the instructions are, the front wrapping round to the back seemed to have a couple of the contestants confused.

I'm undecided whether to take the plunge and order it myself, I'm only 5foot 2"...with no boobs to speak of. Wonder if it'd look daft Confused

lucysmam · 13/03/2015 14:32

oooh, I'm all excited...dp has been to town for my Mother's Day present & came back with the Sewing Bee book Grin The dress pattern's in there so once I've made a gazillion Elsa dresses I shall give it a whirl.

Can never decide on bloody fabric to use for stuff I want to make myself though Confused
