am doing a VW camper van and a hairy spider (2 different ones) for a couple of kids' birthdays

quite scary doing it for money rather than school fair though

actually have done a couple for friends' .. but that's always been for cost of t-shirt

it is quite embarrassing doing it for actual money (even if its only a few quid)

Well done Twiglett.

My guys are in to Vdubs being surfy types....do you have a piccie???

tamum · 27/06/2006 17:32

Oh well done, I thought this must be you! Dd's mermaid is still very much admired by all who see it (honestly, it's incessant). Thank god I've met you in RL so I can say airily "oh a friend of mine does them" and not have to mumble something vague about the internet....

UCM · 27/06/2006 17:36

Great stuff Twig. Well done!!!

Twiglett · 27/06/2006 17:53

Lovely Twiglett. Really lovely. When did you start making these, was it just for the school fair?

Beauregard · 27/06/2006 18:10

Really nice Work ,i bet you will sell lots!

Twiglett · 27/06/2006 18:33

had a go last year for school fair (I'd done a couple of babygros for my kids before) .. they went really well

so am doing more this year

not really sure how to actually make money out of it .. I'm not actively chasing commissions .. but maybe will put some leaflets on school fair stand this time

southeastastra · 27/06/2006 19:02

they are great! especially like the dalek and skeleton

Twiglett · 27/06/2006 20:22

lionheart · 27/06/2006 21:04

These are fab, Twiglett. Could you sell them online?

Twiglett · 28/06/2006 08:31

What do you mean by 'online'?

TBH I am too embarrassed to sell them (which really doesn't make sense if you know me .... I think I don't think they're good enough)

but I don't mind doing it for a good cause (school fair) and if particularly asked

OP posts:
Beauregard · 28/06/2006 09:03

You certainly should not be embarrassed ,they would sell really well!

Beauregard · 28/06/2006 09:07

Maybe we should have a vote on it?

southeastastra · 28/06/2006 09:10

you could sell some on here give biglips a run for her money (sorry biglips )

hunkermunker · 28/06/2006 09:11

Oh, brilliant, Twiglett!

I felt a bit weird when I sold my first card.

Soon passes

You could sell them on eBay.

Or at a stall in a craft market?

Or go round local independent childrenswear shops? If you don't mind people seeing you work, you could do a demo day at one maybe? (I find this hard, but I quite like the challenge of people watching me!)

MrsSpoon · 28/06/2006 09:23

They are really good, I can see a couple that I would like for my DSs. How much are they?

Nemo1977 · 28/06/2006 11:34

arghh link wont work for me

Kelly1978 · 28/06/2006 11:45

those are lvoely - how do you do them?

Twiglett · 28/06/2006 12:03

... thank you...

well at the moment I'm selling them for £6.50 at the school fair ... (but think for commissions I'd probably want a bit more)

Kelly... I do them with a paintbrush and fabric paints (from an art shop) .. I have fabric pens too for the details .. and glitter (but that's mainly for fairy wings ) ... I just find a picture I like (normally online but also from books) and start copying it but they tend to be more graphic because of the fabric medium

lionheart · 28/06/2006 12:23

Are these a bugger to wash and can you make one for me, please?

(I'm thinking, it might start with mumsnet and a craft stall but then you'll get your own online shop, followed by a franchise, which you later float on the stockmarket and that will buy you a fabulous mansion filled with playboy bunnies and they will deliver cocktails on little trays to you and all those who encouraged you from the start. That's what I'm thinking. )

lionheart · 28/06/2006 12:24

Or should that be playgirl bunnies. No matter, whatever floats your boat.
