Make sure its dry first & give the plug & electrics a check, but do long as its not wet, yes that's a good start

Yes, if dry, plug it in and try it.

Envy but glad for you, I love old machines, so much better than the newer plastic rubbish

I tend to just take a photo and upload it to something like Picasa Web albums/Flikr, then link to it. There is an "arts and crafts" topic where you can upload pictures to a thread though.

Longdistance is your uncle's house in the UK? If so the council can take it over, do it up and rent it out when it has been empty for six months under the Housing Act 2004.

Not unless they can prize the keys out of my df's hands lol. Lonnnnnng back story, and very complicated. It has a caveat on it, so it's fun, fun, fun! No will, house was my df's, but assigned it to uncle on the promise he'd leave it to me and db.....NOT shakes fist at silly bugger

Great house though. Location, size, but a bit shabby in places. Although, it's been redecorated in places thanks to my df.

I have my great-grandmother's Singer treadle sewing machine, which worked really well for many years.
Until I can get enough money to have it checked and mended it is being used as our PC desk!!

In fact I am sat at it now, I love it!! So many happy memories. Smile
