COME ON - New cards anyone

UCM · 09/02/2006 00:12

I have posted some more new ones in the Gallery, would love to see some more by you all. Someone mentioned moving on after 'stick ons' (my shame is that I used these at the beginning, I now know better), probably not, just learnt new techniques.

Oh BTW, I got my new ones from Clintons cards

Love the heart one Whizzz, really simple but effective.

I've added a few recent card to the All New-Dingles album if anyone wants a look.

here

Whizzz · 10/02/2006 14:46

Thanks Dingle - took me ages & much cursing to get it to hang just right

UCM · 10/02/2006 17:01

Well well well, haven't we all moved on. This is why I wanted to see some more cards from you all. They are all so lovely. Dings, your cards are fab, love the phone charms , bet they are sailing out...Whizz love the new cards as well.

Can you imagine if we had a card shop with just our cards/jewellry in it. We would make a fortune.

My Sister in law is a Manager in Clintons (15 years) and is selling my cards to her staff/friends as they are cheaper even with staff discount.

I think that since I have joined this A&C, everyone has moved on sooooo much. I know I have. I can't believe how lovely the cards are....

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/02/2006 17:05

yes i did thank you - im just in awe!

my first few i have done are SHITE in comparison!

Carolinett · 10/02/2006 17:11

UCM I can see why your sister sells your cards they are classy.

Whizzz · 10/02/2006 17:18

I am never oganised enough to put new ones in All new & then move them to the other folder. I have got more photos but they are hiding somewhere on DHs PC & typically he hasn;t told me where they are stored ! Will have some more to post soon - maybe I will put them all in ALl New !

kiwibella · 10/02/2006 17:35

Elouise is cute, as is the stylish anniversary card .

hullabaloo · 10/02/2006 17:44

Love, Love, Loving all the new cards. Dingle your Elouise card is gorgeous ...which alphabet did you use for that?

Loved the use of funky fibre Whizz. I love the idea of using these but not a clue what to do with it! I opened all the fab ones from the swap and then panicked - I think I'm fibre-phobic not a clue what to do with them!

Dingle · 10/02/2006 17:55

Hi Hulla, that is the Girls are weird sizzlit set. TBH I don't very often use it with it's "shadow effect" it takes too long...but I must admit..it looks so much better than used on it's own IYSWIM!

I also loved the way Whizzz used the fibres for the likkle dress! How did you come up with that idea?

UCM · 10/02/2006 18:06

Corr, bloody 'ell never been classy in all me life. But thanks Carolinett, they really are copies of whats available in Clintons. However I am just about to put on on that is truly mine.

J&Rsmummy, I have some hobgoblins from when I started I may post them so you can have a giggle. All of my cards were shite. I only realised it when I knew that there were so many different techniques to making cards look more professional etc. When I look at them now, I giggle. I would have sold them for 25p to the tinkers.

Whizzz · 10/02/2006 18:11

Glad you all liked the funky fibres ! When I saw that type it just reminded me of fringeing on one of those 30s Flapper dresses - hence the use as a fairy dress !!
I also might try and use it as a border ie stick it to the back of a piece of card so the fringey bit pokes out !

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/02/2006 18:15

UCM that would be great.... ive got a long way to go yet, but slowly does it. need to walk before i can run!!!

UCM · 10/02/2006 18:44

Am going to do it now.

OP posts:
UCM · 10/02/2006 19:04

Have done it, at the time I thought those 3 cards were the dogs nads. But now, I look back and think, (this is about only about 6 months ago, by the way) they gave me a lot of pleasure at the time.

I have learnt so much on here about new techniques and I would be a liar if I didn't say that JM, Dior & Dingle weren't a big influence on me.

Now I lack inspiration completely and have started to copy cards from Card mags.

Dings, something I meant to ask you a long time ago, some of your flowers look like they have stitching around the edge, is that done manually or with a pen, cos I love it.

OP posts:
jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/02/2006 19:12

UCM - they are really sweet. im tempted to take photos of mine, but im scared what you will all think!!!

Dingle · 10/02/2006 19:22

UCM- the stitching is drawn on by hand with a gel pen or fine tip marker, takes a while at first but now i AM MUCH QUICKER![GRIN]

oopppss.sorry for shouting!

J&Rmummy, don't feel bad about showing your work...at the end of the day we all started somewhere and I know that most of us look back and see how much improvement there has been!
I am still never 100 % happy with my work, I'm just so critical and have no confidence in my ability. I hoped that it would come with experience but I have been cardmaking for nearly 3 years now!LOL....

UCM · 10/02/2006 19:27

J&Rs mummy, show em, nobody will criticise on here. We are all too respectful of the time & thought put into doing them. Every single one of us started somewhere on here. I thought that the ones I put on tonight were so sophisticated as I just didn't realise that there were so many other ways to do stuff. Mind you I fear that I am turning into a Magazine clone these days. It's very rare that I make a card that I simply thought of myself.

Dings (I always want to put Dingbat, but haven't dared yet , you are a total seamstress!!! It looks terribly effective.
