I love my sewing machine, and the poor thing looks so sad that since Ive moved I havent had it out to play - give me an idea / pattern some thing to make.

I quite fancy making a quilt... but dont know where to start really.

This quilt looks quite easy to make - I'm quite tempted to try it myself on a smaller scale.

yes, but I would like to buy one. I will phone the shop I bought my sewing machine from and ask.

What do you mean about dropping dogs?

I have never changed the set up for the quilting aspect of making a quilt up and dont have a walking foot. I just make sure that when i pin it together with my basting safety pins, I keep the material really taught and use more safety pins then recommended. I can post a picture of my last project if you like on my profile.

I recently got hold of an american quilting magazine. I was very impressed with it, and their customer service (i had a problem with the pattern) it was what inspired me to make the quilt and there are several more quilts i want to run up.

will hunt a link to their site. They have a quilt that you fold up to make a cushion and whilst I am not to keen on the quilt design I can adapt it so that i can have a quilt of my liking to do the same.

issue 115 was the issue that inspired me. I have plans for the fish, am making a bag out of it and have made a diamond pattern quilt already. plus they have free patterns on the site. Worth a look as there is a lot of different stuff available. ANd the magazine is all patterns and little in the way of ads or chitchat.

how do you make sure that the sticthes are the same size butterfly? I quilted snail and butterfly shapes and swirls recently but havent dropped the feed dogs. Does it make it much easier to do?
