Went to Hobbycraft 'just for a look' and bought some beady jewellery making stuff ! Just a bit to have a go.

If it's a hit I may well combine the two & make jewellery cards !

Argh - another sideline to prevent me from doing the ironing

Ive been making jewellery cards for a while now and have a few shops selling for me. Each time I have been to a craft fair they have been the first things to sell and I normally sell out.

I enjoy jewellery making as its a nice change to card making and DH at least gets to see me as I can thread beads whilst I sit with him in the lounge....he never sees me if I am card making as noone is allowed in my work room!!!!

When you've made your first item Whizz will you post a piccie in the gallery....Id love to see what you have made.

lunavix · 21/08/2005 19:48

Whizz I looked at this today! Picked up the 'how to' leaflets and if I do them easy enough will branch out on my own...

Whizzz · 21/08/2005 20:20

OK - I've had a go.
I bought elastic to make bracelets but wish I'd bought cord as it may have been easier to do what I wanted.

It's like when I started making cards - I have the ideas but not the know how!

link to Gallery - my New folder to see results

It is my first attempt - be honest !

I like it! I personally wouldn't use elastic, but I'm fussy and it would feel a bit 'cheap' to me. But I think it's gorgeous!

Whizzz · 21/08/2005 20:52

I did think I had picked up black cord but DS was leaping up & down at the time - not the best aid to concentration !

Its really pretty...now you've just got to make the card to go with it.

jayzmummy · 21/08/2005 23:22

Ive added some of the jewellery I use to make my jewellery cards for you to look at Whizz

The photos are awful because I had to use DS1's camera because mine isnt working properly

champs · 22/08/2005 14:10

whizzz, very pretty I like the uniqueness(is that a word?) of it. I would buy it.

jayzmummy -- oooo I like!! my fave is the shell bracelet, looks like something you'd find in a shop.

Whizzz · 22/08/2005 18:38

JM - they are all lovely !!
Where do you get the bits & bobs from - there wasn't too much to choose from in Hobbycraft (mind you I didn't really know what I wanted to do which didn't help)
Anywhere you can recommend online ?

I get my B&P's from the local market and craft shop....jewellery making is a big thing down this way. All my friends make jewellery which is the reason I started to make jewellery cards as they are a bit different and you dont see many around.

Whizzz · 30/08/2005 19:09

Right - first go at jewellery card stored in the Gallery - under All New - Whizz New

Blue Earrings - let me know what you think & how much you would pay (if anything !).
The beads in this one are acryllic so don't 'feel' as nice as glass beads. I've made 2 other pairs with glass beads but not done the accompanying cards yet !

Just added SeaGreen earrings too !

very pretty. i still haven't got to grips with fraying mullberry paper.

Whizzz · 30/08/2005 21:10

Get a little paint brush, dip in water
Draw line where you want to rip with the wet brush
Wait a few seconds and - rip carefully !!

What do you think I could sell the cards for ?
I'm a useless business person !

My trouble is now, in addition to all the bits of card, paper, punches, glitter etc - I'm now collecting beads, thread & fastenings.

ARGH !
