Hi lovely Mamas, just wondering if you've had the covid jab yet? Or plan to? Am booked to have mine on Sunday but feel in 2 minds about it as its still a fairly new vaccine. Will be 24 weeks on Sunday. Replies would be appreciated! x

Oh I'm so unsure what to do too! I'm 20 weeks and just can't decide what to do for the best. According to the advice I've got two high risk factors, husband works in a hospital and I'm over 35. Midwife advised against it at my booking in appointment but Delta variant is increasing so quickly atm. I'm reading what advice I can, has anyone come across any good info - for or against?!

I’m the same. In 9 weeks pregnant. I had my first one in April and just don’t know when to get my second or whether to wait until February after the baby is due xxx

Has anybody given birth and had any side effects following having had the Covid Vaccine? To baby/yourself? X

I don't think that anyone can rule out tetragenic effects with a lot of meds and so waiting until at least the second Tri seems prudent

Hi mums, in case I can help you to decide. I had my second jab this morning (23 weeks pregnant) and the only side effect I feel is pain in my arm and bit of headache (pfizer).The headache is similar to what you feel after spending hours watching TV or at any screen.

I had my first jab when I was 14 weeks pregnant and I felt pretty much the same. The baby looks well in the scans so far (one when I was 12 weeks and other one at 20 weeks). I'll have another scan next week with the NHS because I had the 20 weeks scan abroad , so I still have my appointment for the 20-24 weeks check.

Will update with our progress . Xx

I had my 2nd Jab yesterday. I'm 13 weeks pregnant. I spoke to the doctor about and it and she explained that whilst she can't advise me on whether to have it or not she can tell we what's happening in hospitals right now. She said she has seen midwives in tears witnessing pregnant women on ventilators and unable to push because of Covid. Most having to go into surgery because they are physically unable to give birth and not able to look after their babies afterwards, nurse them etc. She said its heart breaking. So I personally would get the jab as soon as you can x

I had my anatomy scan yesterday which was normal for the first ever time and asked the fetal med consultant about the vaccine. I had 1st dose AZ in March and havent had the second due to pregnancy. He said do not have the AZ vaccine in pregnancy it needs to be either Pfizer or Moderna, if they won't allow Pfizer for a second dose they should allow you to just start the whole process again with Pfizer if you have had AZ, it shouldn't be a problem seeing as some people will be recieving a 3rd booster shot soon anyway. He said currently wait times between doses are around 4 weeks, I am 19+2 and he suggested to get it relatively soon, I was scared of it affecting babies development due to every previous baby having fetal abnormalities found at 20 weeks. He can't tell me to get the vaccine but they have had done very ill women with covid in later pregnancy so would recommend it. I am going to call the booking line on Monday and see if they will let me have 2x Pfizer shots.

@Tigger85
I’m in a similar situation - have second AZ booked for 16 Nov but feel like I should change to Pfizer…
We’re you allowed to take Pfizer in the end? Did you re-start both?

@GreyGoose1980 @Tigger85
Its so difficult isn't it. When you get the jcvi saying you should continue with AV as second dose and then midwife's etc telling you you can't have AV in pregnancy. I had my first AV a week before finding out I was pregnant and am now 32 weeks pregnant and not had a second dose. This pregnant has been consumed with anxiety over it.

GreyGoose1980 · 16/11/2021 15:12

Hi @ilovemykids5
i have just returned from having my AZ vaccine - I’m currently 20 weeks. I spoke to my nhs consultant who said she couldn’t advise me firmly one way or another as it was a personal decision but suggested that I look on the RCOG website as they were the best source of advice. They were recommending I had AZ so I decided to attend my appointment. I am still not 100 % certain I did the right thing. It’s all such a worry.

ilovemykids5 · 16/11/2021 17:41

@GreyGoose1980 hope all goes well for you. Wish we didn't have these horrible desicions to make.

Hi all,

Has anyone had experience with the Moderna vaccine in pregnancy? I am due my top up in Feb but as I'm now pregnant I think I'll be getting it earlier.... I'm not sure if they would give me Moderna again or another one.
