High Nucal fold thickness

We've just had our 20 week scan and was told that he has a higher than average Nuchal fold thickness of 7.3mm. Everything else looks normal and healthy and they examined his heart extensively and nothing looks out of the ordinary. We have done the NIPT test and just waiting on results but I am just so scared of what the outcome will be, the not knowing is torture. I've also not felt much movement yet, and felt no kicks at all. Could this be a link? Or am I just being extra paranoid? Has anybody else got any experience with this?

Hi @Missy38 that's amazing, not long to go now!!
I had my daughter at exactly 36 weeks she weighed 5lbs 12 and my son at 37+4 he weighed 7lbs 9. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy xx

Missy38 · 27/07/2020 18:41

I hope I go about that time or at least 37 weeks lol I'm getting so fed up and morning sickness has decided to come back the last few days, hows everything going with you Sam xx

SamK93 · 18/08/2020 14:16

Hi @Missy38 just checking in with you, how's your pregnancy going? If still pregnant! Xx

Missy38 · 18/08/2020 15:35

Hi sam, still pregnant, think hes comfy in there lol, alot of pressure where he is though, so nervous of giving birth again, the pain lol I have clinic thursday then hospital a week thursday if he hasn't come by then, how are you doing x

SamK93 · 18/08/2020 15:43

@Missy38
How many weeks are you now? Ahhh noo don't want to think about labour I could cry lol. I'm 30 weeks this week, hopefully not too long for u now x

Missy38 · 18/08/2020 16:29

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, not long left now for you either, I know I'm so so dreading the pain feeling, I really wanna experience a epidural this time though, hopefully to make it easier lol xx

SamK93 · 18/08/2020 16:49

@Missy38 I know I didn't have an epidural with my other two, but my second Labour was sooo bad I thought I was gonna die lol it came to a point where I said I want an epidural but I was 8cm dilated by then and they didn't want it to slow down after so many hours of being in labour so I never had it! First labour I didn't even know I was in labour and I delivered two hours after arriving at hospital. Every labour is different! Just see how it goes x

Missy38 · 28/08/2020 10:15

Hello, 39+2 still no sign of baby yet lol he's weighing 7lbs 8 already but I'll take that with a pinch of salt as I know they ain't always on the mark, I've been booked in for induction on the 9th September if no sign of baby by then, hopefully I don't go that far over though lol, how you doing Sam? Hope all is OK x

SamK93 · 28/08/2020 12:44

@Missy38 lovely to hear from you, hang in there! you've come this far, hopefully you'll go in naturally but either way at least you've got a date for induction. Go for lots of walks! Sex worked for me lol, TMI but trick is you have to lay there and let the sperm stay in your cervix, it softens it. It hundred percent worked with me, after we did I stayed there fell asleep and woke up with contractions lol. Either way not long left now so good luck! I wanna see a pic of the baby and update soon!

I'm 31 weeks, I'm doing okay, had a 4D scan yesterday x

Hi ladies, I know this is an old ish thread but your stories are giving me hope. 3.5 fluid on the neck and high risk on blood test. Waiting for my NIPT results now which won’t be here for 10 days.

I hope my results are as high as yours were. We were only told on Thursday that the fluid was high and I’m starting to feel detached from baby already. Preparing myself for the worse I guess

SamK93 · 05/09/2020 16:54

Hi @Sussexbysea I hope your feeling okay, I know it's a scary and anxious time. How many weeks pregnant are you? Think positive please try not to stress until you hear back from the NIPT I know it's easy for us to say, and I know how hard it is. I'm 32 weeks pregnant now and I was feeling the same way as you are. As you must have read, the OP went through all this too and had a perfectly healthy baby at the end.

Missy38 · 05/09/2020 18:01

My bbay had the same fluid on neck high bloods also, it's been a tough 9 months fluid resolved at 14 weeks and so far scans have been clear, Im over due now 40+3 baby doesn't wanna come out lol I'm also waiting for the scary outcome as I didn't have invasive tests done based in scans and heart scan

Sussexbysea · 05/09/2020 20:21

I’m 13.5 weeks and the heart, limbs, nasal bone etc all look perfect. The hospital wanted to give me a CVS even before my combined screening results were in. Crazy!

Missy38 · 05/09/2020 22:43

Mine were very horrible, they were talking about ending my pregnancy at the 13 week scan because of the nt 3. 6 😲 they didn't even give me chance to discover what the NT actually meant, I'm so glad I didn't even bother listening to them and instead relied on the info from fetel medicine, then when I seen the consultant back at my local around 28 weeks, she was like oooh I see the fluid has resolved, I thought what a little bitch 🙄

SamK93 · 06/09/2020 00:22

@Sussexbysea sometimes the professionals don't always get it right! Trust your gut, try to keep positive until your NIPT results come back.

@Missy38 I can't believe your baby has not left the premises yet!! Let's hope you go in naturally before Wednesday fingers crossed, you must be getting sooo fed up now, make sure you keep me updated xx

Missy38 · 06/09/2020 00:34

Lol that made me laugh Sam, yup so fed up and uncomfortable, just want it over with now, so hoping he comes before Wednesday tho, deffo will keep u updated, same with your pregnancy x

Sussexbysea · 06/09/2020 05:37

@Missy38 funny you say that. The fetal medicine dr looked at us to say ‘why are you here?’ He was implying that all looked fine and we had nothing to worry about but he couldn’t see my bloods. We’re just going to wait for the NIPT and then go from there.

Congrats on those who’ve had babies recently! The sleepless nights getting to you yet? Mine is 3.5 years and today she thought 4.30 was a good time to wake up and play babies 😫

Missy38 · 10/09/2020 10:33

Hi girls, I did message yesterday but it's not come through for some reason, sam baby born 9th September 5am perfect, no problems at all and he was 8lbs 1 but tiny lol he's a little shorty, but trust your instinct, I worried for nothing, no downs no abnormalities nothing, I hope you all the best with yours xx

SamK93 · 10/09/2020 12:39

Congratulations @Missy38 I'm soo ecstatic for you! How was your labour? I want to know everything lol. Enjoy this beautiful time with your baby & I hope you're both doing well xxx

Missy38 · 10/09/2020 12:54

Omg Sam it was the worst ever lol it was as bad as my first and hurt so bad haha, I had contractions at 5am for 24 hours, he was born 5am the following day, I think I screamed the hospital down, only had gas and air lol, 3 mins pushing but omg these contractions felt worse than I can remember but he's totally worth it, it's true what people say, you wish you didn't stress and worry so much when everything is coming back low after being high risk, I came home around 9.30pm yesterday and just recoving today x

SamK93 · 10/09/2020 16:22

I'm really happy for you @Missy38
That sounds just like my second Labour with my son 😩😩 it hurt so much I thought I was gonna die, in labour for nearly 24 hours on just gas and air & I literally thought i was on fire down there when his head came out 😂😂 at least you didn't have to get induced? How was it with all the Covid stuff going on partner wise? Get plenty of rest!! I hope your being well looked after xxx

Missy38 · 10/09/2020 17:23

Deffo agree with that, yeah I didn't get induced I'm glad it went natural and I was able to stay home until I could handle it, then all that pain just to be told I'm only 2cm 😭 I was so gutted haha, it really wasn't bad with the covid, I think I was in so much pain that was all I could concentrate on, once they move you to labour room they phone your partner, he left an hour after I gave birth, you then go to postnatal ward which gives you some time with baby alone and you get to speak to the other mams in the same boat as you, its really not as bad and lonely as I expected it to be xx

SamK93 · 09/10/2020 07:21

@Missy38 just to update you I had my baby boy at 36+6 yesterday morning, perfectly fine and healthy no abnormalities xx

Missy38 · 09/10/2020 11:34

Awe congratulations sam I'm so happy for you I'm glad all is ok aswell best of luck with your baby xx
