Pregnant again after 2 consecutive TFMRs

Hi there

I’m not sure if anyone’s been through this but wanted to reach out just in case.

In November 2017, at 21 weeks gestation, I had an induced termination due to spina bifida on the back of the skull, preventing the brain from forming normally. Our beautiful baby girl came into the world on Nov 9.

Two months later, I fell pregnant again. Then at 21 weeks again we had our second induced termination as our little boy had a severely enlarged kidney and severely enlarged ventricles on the brain. We had a post mortem which confirmed this but also confirmed that our baby had a small chin and a slightly curved palette but no cleft palette. The post mortem confirmed that they didn’t see it as being chromosomal.

Although our consultant said it wasn’t necessary, we requested genetic testing. However, after one period I have since fallen pregnant again and I’m now 11 weeks pregnant. So genetic testing might not be possible.

My 12 week scan is next week and I’m absolutely terrified.

I keep having outbursts of uncontrollable tears and anxiety

This pregnancy wasn’t planned and DH basically did the deed without realising eventhough I told him not to. I’m so scared that I’ve fallen pregnant so quickly after a tfmr again.

I’m so scared that history will repeat itself for a third time. All I want is a healthy baby. I don’t have any living children and it’s what I want more than anything else in the world.

Has anyone else had consecutive tfmrs and have gone on to have a healthy baby?

Thanks

Bec x

No I didnt. we terminated on basis of CVS results. But I would have had one if there was a fighting chance the results may have been different.

Eatmycheese · 05/11/2018 21:09

Oh @Becca I’m sorry to read you have yet another hurdle to jump. But I’m sure that this will be something you overcome.
Stay positive.
You’re in my thoughts and hope you are well 💐

BeccaAnnJones · 14/11/2018 22:43

Hi! Not great, have our 19 week scan and amnio tomorrow at 3pm.

So so scared that issues will be spotted again on the ultrasound and also so scared of the amnio. I would love a healthy pregnancy ❤️ Xxxx

Eatmycheese · 16/11/2018 22:25

@BeccaAnnJones how are you?
I hope that the scan went well x

BeccaAnnJones · 16/11/2018 22:35

Hi @eatmycheese

Thanks so much for checking in.

From what they can see the baby looks normal for 19 weeks. They can see 4 heart chambers but couldn’t have a proper look at one of them. They said it may be to do with the baby’s position. Going back next Wednesday for another look. The brain and spine and kidneys looked normal too.
They did the amnio, they said it seemed straightforward. The liquid was darker than normal but they think it may be to do with the fact I’ve bled in this pregnancy.
The results will come back next Friday at 4pm via a phonecall which I’m dreading.
The results yesterday were the best we could ask for at that stage.
Currently resting up in my parents’ house.

Just totalling dreading the amnio results at the end of next week. As so many issues don’t show in the anatomy scan so those results will be the decision that we’re so nervous about; as it will result in terminating from Nov 26 😞

@becca hi there
I’m going to stay positive for you. The scan sounds as though it went well. That’s great. Hold onto that my lovely
And I have never had an amnio but goodness I expect your heart is in your mouth and you can think of little else.
Stay strong. You might not think you are but you are. Keep going. I’m rooting for you and your lovely baby.

I hope you are ok this evening.
Will check up on your thread towards Friday 💐

BeccaAnnJones · 17/11/2018 20:30

Thank you so much @eatmycheese it means the world ❤️

I’m too scared to feel any hope. I did that in previous pregnancies and felt like I jinxed myself. Trying to get through each day until Friday at the moment 😞
Thanks so much it really does mean so much xxxx

Our little girl is perfect! No WWS, no downs, no Patau’s or Edwards syndrome. We’ll have the results of the full chromosome testing at the end of next week which looks for duplications in chromosomes which may result in learning difficulties etc. So one more hurdle to go Xxxx
