Trying not to panic

Hi all,

I had my nuchal scan today. They dated me at 13 weeks and the nt measurement was 3mm. I am 28 years old.

I know 3.5mm is the max limit, but I'm feeling extremely anxious that I'm so close to that limit.

I won't get my blood test results back until after Easter now.

Anyone else get a similar measurement to this? If so, how did things turn out? Know it's different for everyone, just need some reassurance Sad

Thanks xxx

Hmmm mine was in Leeds and it was the following morning. I think it's cruel to wait 3 days! I'd ask them about how long because it's not fair to wait different times in different hospitals.

GlitteryFluff · 29/03/2016 10:31

Wishing you luck and strength today Thanks

KittyandTeal · 29/03/2016 11:01

Good luck today.

Our amnio was rapid results in 48 hours. As it was it took longer as they have to double check positives.

bishboschone · 29/03/2016 13:39

Good luck ... I hope it goes ok amd you get the results quickly . Flowers

Thanks all. I've just left the hospital. It was not one of my most favourite experience but I'm glad it's now done. Having horrible cramps which paracetamol is barely touching so hoping it subsides a bit soon.

Annoyingly they told me it may not be until Monday I get the results but that they were hoping to tell me by Friday. Really hope they can tell me this week.

Thank you for being so supportive and kind, it means a lot and I really appreciate it.

Xxxxxxx

Glad they managed to do it.

Hot water bottle and plenty of pain relief for the cramps. And take it easy.

I would think they will try and get them to you on Friday. Fingers crossed.

bayswatersophie · 29/03/2016 17:27

Fingers crossed and be kind to yourself for the rest of the week xxx

Absolute rest! The hard part is over and the rest is out of your hands for now. I'm waiting with you Thanks

bishboschone · 30/03/2016 07:53

I put myself on bed rest for a few days after my cvs as I wanted to give my baby and me the best chance . Obviously sofa rest world well but I don't do sitting still well so decided to stay in bed and let my dh do everything .

Thanks all. My mum is looking after me whilst my husbands at work! Feeling ok just little twinges every now and then but nowhere near as bad as before.

Forgot to mention that the doctor found a fairly large fibroid in my uterine wall when she scanned me for cvs.

Is this something to worry about, do you think? Could it have contributed to my high hcg levels perhaps? Xxx

OP posts:
KittyandTeal · 31/03/2016 12:29

Fibroid shouldn't be anything to worry about. It should cause any issues in pregnancy unless it is very big (in which case you probably would have known about it before) apparently they are very common.

I don't think they have any impact on hormone levels but I may be wrong on that.

I'm glad your being looked after well

cally0 · 01/04/2016 17:52

Received the initial results and I've got the all clear for Down's syndrome, Edwards and Patau.

Am very relieved and in a state of shock!

Full karyotype results not due for another couple of weeks so hoping and praying that they are also normal.

Thank you for all of your help and support during this difficult time xxxxxxx

Thanks

Great news. Hope the rest is all OK too, and you can relax and start to enjoy your pregnancy Flowers

Frazzled2207 · 01/04/2016 18:12

Brilliant news.
Fingers crossed other tests come back clear too.

KittyandTeal · 01/04/2016 18:20

Brilliant news. I hope you can relax a little bit until the karyotype is in.

Undercooked · 01/04/2016 18:26

Fantastic news. I had similar risk and also got all clear. I remember that feeling of disbelief after you have prepared yourself for the worse.

MamOfTwo · 01/04/2016 18:43

So pleased for you! I couldn't believe it when our 1 in 11 results came back clear either - but as the consultant said, we had 10 chances for it to be OK. One thing to be aware with the karotype results - if I remember correctly, ours stated the sex of the baby on them along with other results so be aware of that if you didn't want to find that out. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

cally0 · 01/04/2016 19:39

Thanks all and thanks mamoftwo - we have decided that we want to know the sex of the baby. We weren't going to find out but after this ordeal I really want to know xxx

If all is well cally then I can vouch for it being a lovely treat after all you've been through!

mrsjskelton · 01/04/2016 19:54

Congratulations Wink I'm so relieved! If you're anything like me you'll wonder why you ever did the test - it took a few weeks for me to start thinking that though! I know I'd never do it again no matter what the risk factor. Sometimes ignorance is bliss for all the worry it causes! Absolutely buzzing with your good news GrinThanks.

GlitteryFluff · 01/04/2016 20:12

Great news.

cally0 · 02/04/2016 07:57

Thanks everyone for your kind messages.

Is there any difference between the results the harmony blood test gives you to the full karyotype cvs? (Apart from cvs being diagnostic and harmony just screening)

I swear I read that harmony identifies genetic / inherited conditions that the cvs doesn't?

Hard to tell when I google. If anyone knows it'd be great if you could let me know. We are thinking about doing harmony as well to be on the safe side, but obv there's no point if it only tests for the same things as the cvs

Xxx
