Does no one think anymore?

I am having a bad day.

Im fed up of the following:

  1. People leaving the pub at night shouting and waking up my baby. The pub is near house is it too much to ask that people think that they should not shout as there may be children asleep in the houses?

  2. those stupid recorded phone calls offering debt advice? They call in the afternoon and wake my baby and there isn't a real person on the other end I can shout at for waking my baby up.

  3. people who shout at their dogs to be quiet when it barks. Not only is the dog waking up the baby, but so is the person shouting. If they want quiet why are they shouting?

  4. people who drive at 40mph in a 60 zone but upon entering a 30mph area they continue to drive at 40mph. Why is speeding in a built up area with more potential hazards ok when it clearly isn't safe to go fast on a more open road?

  5. people who park on the pavement blocking it so you have to go on the road with your pushchair to get past.

  6. people who point to their wrist when asking the time as if I wouldn't know where my watch is.

OK rant over.

Anyone want to add anything else?

People who push the button on tube doors.

SherbetDibDab · 05/07/2010 19:49

Have you registered with telephone preference service. I found that really helped with the phone calls.

www.callpreventionregistry.co.uk/?gclid=CKiz1_qF1aICFR4B4wodQFFSwg

Or if you're really desperate you can get your phone company to block all calls from withheld numbers.

CoronaAndLime · 05/07/2010 19:50

YANBU
Appart from no 6, because I do that and I also 'mime' drinking tea when offering to make one

valleyqueen · 05/07/2010 19:50

People who stop dead in front of me when walking in a busy street or supermarket. So annoying.

OrmRenewed · 05/07/2010 19:50

There seems to be a theme with most of your complaints re waking your baby. Perhaps infant earplugs?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 05/07/2010 19:57

There's a brilliant Catherine Tate sketch about Not Waking The Baby (BTW I utterly sympathise - was obsessed by this).

Mine would be litter and dog poo.

Marjee · 05/07/2010 19:57

Drivers who stop on the pedestrian crossing at traffic lights so I can't get the pushchair across the road. Op yanbu some people are just stupid!

Wanttofly · 05/07/2010 19:58

Most things that wake my baby upset me as i try so hard to get him to go to sleep in the first place, but not all are about that

Thank you for the phone thing i have just registered. I hope it works

People (ie my neighbours) who beep at midnight to say goodbye/hello/I'm a git to their family that they've just seen or are about to see.
People who talk as though they're standing next to a jumbo jet when conversing with their friends at 2a.m. outside my house.
People who play music in their car at such volume that I can hear it in my bedroom 50 feet away.
People who drive 20 miles below the speed limit on an open, straight road.
People who are tactless and rude "because I'm just being honest" who then take offence at any comeback you may give.

There are probably 2 million more...

Booboobedoo · 05/07/2010 20:00

I was like that with my baby.

It took So Bloody Long to get him to sleep, I was incandescent that the world didn't just ShutTheF**kUp during his naps.

It's just possible I was a wee bit sleep-deprived.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 05/07/2010 20:01

Don't Wake The Baby

Wanttofly · 05/07/2010 20:01

Jamie i agree i walked son to an appointment today and the amount of dog poo, bird crap and cans and glass on the pavement is so bad.

At one point DS fell over i picked him up and had to stop him from putting a bit of green glass in his mouth. I hate it.

Do we not pay people in tax's to clean this stuff up?

Marjee · 05/07/2010 20:01

Valleyqueen the same thing happens to me, it drives me crazy! What makes it worse is that they tut or make snide comments like its my fault when the pushchair knocks into them!

nagoo · 05/07/2010 20:05

It's not about paying people to pick it up though is it? It's about preventing people from being arseholio enough to drop it in the first place.

thatsnotmymonkey · 05/07/2010 20:06

People who smoke in the street and then drop their fag end in the street. Gross

Drivers who don't give you a wee wave or nod when you have let them pass on a narrow street

shop persons who do not say please or thank you when you are purchasing.

Booboobedoo · 05/07/2010 20:07

Good link Jamie.

Although perhaps a bit too near to the knuckle for comfort...

nagoo · 05/07/2010 20:08

Out of interest, sorry IF I'm hijacking, but if there is a heap of crap outside your house, would you pick it up? (maybe not actual crap but you get my point).

nagoo · 05/07/2010 20:09

didn't mean for my IF to be big

valleyqueen · 05/07/2010 20:12

I don't use a buggy anymore Marjee so just end up banging straight into them. At least with a buggy you get to ram thier ankles

vicbar · 05/07/2010 20:13

the selfish idiots who park in the bay outside my house but dont live on this side of the street and have driveways (rented rooms) making me cross a rd with 3 dc (all under 6) whilst 38 wks pg and chronic spd.

Whenever I ask DH if he wants a cup of tea he looks at his watch - this REALLY annoys me.

the girl who was talking loudly into her mobile when I sat nxt to her on a bench and she stopped her conversation to her Boyfriend to say "OMG I wish you could see the size of the womans belly next to me its massive, no proer huge" like I wasnt even there.

People who park in the middle of a space big enough for 3 cars if you park consideratly. (SP)

not picking ip dog mess esp in the alley next to DD school.

DH putting his dirty plates on the kitchen side above the dishwasher, Ive explained that it does not grow arms and load itself.

DH deleting my skyplus things if it says viewed to clear space. We have 78% free WTF does he want to tape ???? AND cancelling my recording if it clashes with him taping / watching something else. (I did get a bit of revenge and deleted the ashes haha - well he knows who won .

I feel so much better now. Thanks for the thread.

mintyfresh · 05/07/2010 20:13

No YANBU!!

Also really annoys me that people think it is ok to play loud music and shout at night. My bugbear is people listening to their car stereos really, really loud when they come back home at night and then sitting in their cars with the music blaring out until the song has finished arghhhhh!!!

Many people just don't think - or don't care about the noise they make these days in fact the more noise for some people, the better it seems!!

vicbar · 05/07/2010 20:14

God my spelling is awful, I blame it on the sheer joy I felt at being able to vent.

MrsChemist · 05/07/2010 20:15

People pissing in my street. It's a tiny side street, so people think it's totally acceptable to just piss up our garden wall at night.

Wankers.

Ryuk · 05/07/2010 20:23

People walking with a small child eating crisps or sweets, then not seeming to care when the child drops the wrapper on the floor. Why are they teaching it that it's ok to litter, why???

mintyfresh · 05/07/2010 20:24

MrsChemist you have my complete and utter sympathy - this happened to us regularly in the house we used to live in except it was the doorstep (nice!).
