To want to start drinking cold beer at 5pm?

It is as hot as the hobs of hell at the moment and there are a couple of cold tins in the fridge. I have sole charge of dd (9.2) who is sleeping with me anyway while dh is away. AIBU to think it isn't such a bad thing to crack one open now?
I'll just go and have a ciggy and check back for the verdict.

Crack them open! I shall join you with a glass of wine

TheBolter · 03/07/2010 16:05

Not at all, perhaps I'll join you with the excuse that's it 5pm European time?

I really really love a beer at 5pm on a hot sunny day. Go for it.

YABU to drink it out of a tin though. Yuk.

ditavonteesed · 03/07/2010 16:06

well it's only 4 and I have one. from a beautiful glass though.

compo · 03/07/2010 16:06

Oh yes get it open

I started on the Pinot during lunch out ie noon

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/07/2010 16:08

I certainly do not drink it out of the tin, I am a lady. Glad to see I am not the only dipso, DD (who is watching the cat in the bastard hat) looked like this and said, I suppose you'll be snoring again.

problem is - if there are only a couple in the fridge and you have one now you won't be able to go and get more when you've run out (by about 5.45ish).

I'd join you but I have to go and collect my mother from a bloody party later. and DD2 is being impossible and i'd like to drown myself my sorrows.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/07/2010 16:35

There are plenty more where that came from, the problem is they are in the car and we are in the middle of a thunderstorm now. It gives the DD a chance to earn a franc by going to get five a couple more.
The first one slipped down a treat, I'd better get the dinner on now though.

YANBU I've started at 7am before.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/07/2010 16:45

Surely that early start was either a late night or a different time zone?

I am on my third can since 3

MrsC2010 · 03/07/2010 17:09

Oh I would, I'm so jealous. (36 wks pg). So am having a Snickers ice cream instead. A big one.

Alouiseg · 03/07/2010 17:11

One glass of very cold rose by my side. Yadnbu

kingbeat23 · 03/07/2010 17:17

nope just went to the offie to buy a couple under the premise of buying food for dinner (already made) and picking dry cleaning (boring chores)...cant wait....

lazarusb · 03/07/2010 17:35

On Pastis at the moment, working up to ice cold vodka and tonic later!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/07/2010 17:50

, I had a swig of red that DH had left out before he went away. Third cold one slipping down nicely now. Horribly humid and stormy so I'm making sure I don't get dehydrated

I started on the white wine about 4.30 so I say go for it! Whether I will say the same tomorrow morning remains to be seen

TheBolter · 03/07/2010 18:30

Opening mine now, off for a bath before I go out... enjoy

FellatioNelson · 03/07/2010 18:30

I had a Pimms at about 2pm.

Am just considering whether to take another one with me, or a gin or vodka and tonic, into the bath while I get ready to go out.

DormouseUK · 03/07/2010 18:33

Just finished a pint of ice cold cider.

I probably should make dinner before I have any more.

Alouiseg · 03/07/2010 18:38

I'm not going out tonight vino, steak, warm evening.

The possibilities are endless ;-)

TheBolter · 03/07/2010 18:56

Alouiseg indeed. What a lovely sounding evening.

I'm off to a big fancy dress party. Mucha cerveza necesitada.

FellatioNelson · 03/07/2010 19:08

I'm going out with six middle-aged, mid-life crisis women, so my possibilities are endless also.

Alouiseg Are you there? Have you been to Qube lately? There was talk of 'clubbing' after dinner. Not sure if any of us are up to proper clubbing (ie. Escape) (least of all me - it's the bunions and the deafness that do for me these days) but most of the bars are too lary/too young in town. I have been to Qube once, about three years ago and it seemed an older crowd and altogether more suitable!!!! But still a hectic night out by my usual arthritic standards! What do you think?

My girlfriends are all from nearer Chelmsford so they will be looking to me for guidance.

FellatioNelson · 03/07/2010 19:10

Sorry - seem to have gone a bit mad with the over-excited exclamation marks and emoticons. It's becasue I don't get out much. That and the pre-partying vodka.

Alouiseg · 03/07/2010 19:58

Fn calm down!!! Qube is shite but ok for our age group. Smiths is all our age but full of desperadoes, clubbing will involve Roberts Club. Utter shite, full of middle age lotharios and recently dumped divorcees, poss a few Chs mums.

Do yourselves a favour, stick to Qube, smiths and then make a break for a cab. It gets messy after 1am. It also gets no better after 11pm.

Unsure what to suggest but have fun and debrief tomorrrow

Do not under any circumstances end up at escape!!!!!!
