To think they were strange?

This afternoon as it was tipping down with rain, I just thought that I would take DD1 and DD2 with me to the pre-school that I clean on a weekend and during weekday evenings.
Normaly it is very quiet up there, no houses nearby and surrounded by fields.
At around 2pm, about 6 cars pull up at the gates (locked) and about 15 people get out and just stand on the other side of the gate looking towards the pre-school, where we were.
They were just standing there in the pouring rain, to be honest they were freaking me out a bit, could not recognise any of them.
I took my time finishing the cleaning, taking 2 hours instead of the usual 1hr and they were still there.
We had to leave so I got to the gate with DDs, put the rubbish in the bin and got in the car.
I then looked at all the cars and wrote down the reg numbers just in case anything happened.
They were just staring at me as I was not supposed to be there , well hello I'm the one who's got the electronic pass.
Don't know what they wanted, but it sure freaked me out and I was too nervous to ask them outright.

YANBU.

Maybe the building is being sold and they were coming to look at it?

DramaInPyjamas · 16/05/2010 20:45

Local press? Council? Investors?

Needanewname · 16/05/2010 20:59

Does seem weird but there could be a reason.

To put your mind at rest, I would inform the pre school tomorrow and leave it up to them to deal with.

Ripeberry · 16/05/2010 21:02

I'll have a word with one of the school governors tomorrow, maybe it was a planned visit, at least I've got a time frame to give them so they can check back on the security video (the main school).
Could be all innocent, but I usualy relax on a weekend when up there, but at night especially in winter I lock myself in just in case

That would freak me out too.

Cretaceous · 16/05/2010 22:14

Were they birdspotters? People travel miles for that sort of thing. Google and see if there's a rare bird lurking in the bushes.

BAFE · 16/05/2010 22:17

they stood in the rain for 2 hours? when they had come by car?

BouncingTurtle · 16/05/2010 22:26

I bet they were aliens.

tethersend · 16/05/2010 22:28

Dogging.

thinker · 16/05/2010 22:29

Made me all nervous

Ripeberry · 17/05/2010 09:26

Spoke to the governors and they knew nothing about it. Nothing stolen or damaged, maybe they were aliens?......Oohh.
Bit of a panic myself this am, lost my purse, started to cancel my cards when the pre-school leader called me this morning to wonder why my purse was in their kitchen.

I think I was so busy worrying about them and having to walk past them that I forgot to pick up half my stuff.

This would have freaked me out too.

Very odd behaviour Ripeberry. Too many of them to be prospective clients. What ages were they ? Male / female ?

Ripeberry · 17/05/2010 14:35

All male, about middle aged. Sometimes we get famillies who come up with their picnic rugs and they climb into the school, so that they can have a picnic and their kids can use the playground (which is a bit cheeky to be honest).
Never mind, just one of those things.

So so strange, OP. Did any of them speak to you, even say hello?

BettyTurnip · 17/05/2010 14:40

How utterly bizarre. Fifteen middle aged men standing in the rain for two hours? Did they even acknowledge you as you went past? Maybe it's a doggers' den ?

That would have right put the willies up me.

Def doggers or aliens I reckon.

Or alien doggers.

BettyTurnip · 17/05/2010 14:48

Is it not leylines?

BettyTurnip · 17/05/2010 14:48

The last thing you want is doggers putting the willies up you.

HettiesMum · 17/05/2010 14:56

A bunch of middle-aged men staring at a school ? Hmmmmm .... be very wary.

Geocentric · 17/05/2010 14:59

BettyTurnip · 17/05/2010 15:00

Geocentric · 17/05/2010 15:02
