To think they were strange?

This afternoon as it was tipping down with rain, I just thought that I would take DD1 and DD2 with me to the pre-school that I clean on a weekend and during weekday evenings.
Normaly it is very quiet up there, no houses nearby and surrounded by fields.
At around 2pm, about 6 cars pull up at the gates (locked) and about 15 people get out and just stand on the other side of the gate looking towards the pre-school, where we were.
They were just standing there in the pouring rain, to be honest they were freaking me out a bit, could not recognise any of them.
I took my time finishing the cleaning, taking 2 hours instead of the usual 1hr and they were still there.
We had to leave so I got to the gate with DDs, put the rubbish in the bin and got in the car.
I then looked at all the cars and wrote down the reg numbers just in case anything happened.
They were just staring at me as I was not supposed to be there , well hello I'm the one who's got the electronic pass.
Don't know what they wanted, but it sure freaked me out and I was too nervous to ask them outright.

Bet it's something really boring . If they were up to anything odd, they wouldn't all gather in one place so openly! Where was it? Ring the local paper and see if they know. Or post a message on a local forum.

StealthPolarBear · 17/05/2010 15:12

very weird - they were there for 2 hours, just staring? Talking between themselves?
Just out of curiosity, what was the link between the rain and you taking the DDs with you? What would they normally do?

Maybe they were cleaners in training and had been sent to see it done properly

StealthPolarBear · 17/05/2010 15:13

ooh has anyone heard of that flash- thing? can't remember the name, it's when a load of internet sprites agree to get together at a particular place...

BouncingTurtle · 17/05/2010 15:13

Dogging aliens?

Geocentric · 17/05/2010 15:15

StealthPolarBear · 17/05/2010 15:20

can someone please tell me what I'm trying to think of?

StealthPolarBear · 17/05/2010 15:20

in my last post I mean, not expecting psychics

Cogitoergosum · 17/05/2010 15:21

flashmobbing. Where people all arrive in one location and do something a bit strange in the name of fun/art.

Cogitoergosum · 17/05/2010 15:22

I don't think what ripeberry saw could have been flashmobbing. Firstly, most flashmobs involve at least a hundred people, and secondly, those people aren't generally middle aged men

StealthPolarBear · 17/05/2010 15:22

thank you
I got flash, but couldn't remember the rest!

StealthPolarBear · 17/05/2010 15:23

flashmobbing at a new level
next it'll be only people who are 80yrs+

Geocentric · 17/05/2010 15:24

80yr+ flashmob: Silver Surfer's meet

Ripeberry · 17/05/2010 19:59

No shades but one of them had a silver porshe! I don't usually clean on a Sunday either..but our building is interesting, maybe they want to get one.
It's not a village hall or a brick and mortar building.
And NO it's not a teepee

Cocoon?

hocuspontas · 17/05/2010 20:04

They are property developers and probably want to buy the place. They were envisaging some lovely apartments and lots of cash and forgot the time.

Geocentric · 17/05/2010 20:42

In the rain? Definitely Invasion of Body Snatchers...
