To think that our local BNP candidate should have put his address on the ballot?

On the ballot papers all the candidates have their names and addresses. Except the BNP candidate who only has his name and the area he is from, no address.

I detest the BNP and all that they stand for.

I also realize that the reason he probably doesn't list his address is because of fear of reprisal.

But if the man is going to stand up for what he believes in, then shouldn't he be as open about who he is as everyone else is and put his name and address to his beliefs?

Yup, same here. BNP candidate had no address details on his section of the ballot paper.

Thankfully I'm not in an area where they stand a cat in hells chance of even so much as a sniff of a seat.

our local bnp candidate did put his address on, which i guess was brave.

Then again, in certain parts of our constituency (not ours thank god) i reckon they scarily might have a chance of getting in!

i really f**king hope not!!

LilRedWG · 06/05/2010 17:22

I'm actually embarassed that we have a BNP candidate for the first time, but she doesn't stand a chance, thank God. In fact I'll be shocked if she gets any votes. Haven't been to vote yet but will let you know if the address is there.

OneTwoBuckleMyShoe · 06/05/2010 17:23

Our "local" BNP candidate put his address on the ballot, which is 50 miles away

Guess he didn't have the balls to stand in his home town.

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 06/05/2010 17:25

Unfortunately ours stand a very real chance of getting in. Bloody hate living here sometimes

mayorquimby · 06/05/2010 17:26

yabu why would anyone put their address on it if they thought they'd be attacked?

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 06/05/2010 17:30

How can they be contacted to do their job then ?

megapixels · 06/05/2010 17:34

Ours had his address. Wanted to write something rude in his box but didn't want to spoil my vote. Luckily zero chance of him getting in here.

Linziwam · 06/05/2010 17:36

in fairness i get what mayorquimby is saying...i feel very passionate and stand up for things i believe in on here, but i wouldnt wanna give my address out so that those who think i'm a knob can come get me! lol.

Saying that, i dont wanna speak on MN for my career!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 06/05/2010 17:43

The one on our ballot paper didn't list his address but it said he was from Witney (perhaps he knows DC??). There were a lot of 'bused in' candidates here - the only two locals were Tory and Lib Dem.

Firawla · 06/05/2010 17:46

They should have to put it on if everyone else does, same rules for all - YANBU. If he is too scared to put it on why is he even bothering to stand then? What a coward, and stupid behaviour
We didn't have one here I'm glad to say.

SecretPollingBooth · 06/05/2010 17:46

mayorquimby - but surely he should believe that his policies are reasonable?
Ours had BNP: Ralph (something), Framwellgate Moor. Didn't really look closely at the others but I don't think they had full addresses on. I do think I've had full addresses on letters etc before though

A BNP candidate in the City of Durham? That makes me shudder I think of Durham and think genteel, people, hills and rowers!

Stockton South (where I live) has a BNP candidate, I was seriously tempted to note down his address... but thought better of it.

LilRedWG · 06/05/2010 17:54

Just had a look at the list of ten things our local BNP candidate wants to achieve and number four made me

"4. Oppose and campaign against the future building of any mosque."

Shudder that anyone would vote for this person.

sungirltan · 06/05/2010 17:56

we have no bnp candidate here this year - have in the past. they must either think its hopeless or none of them have to guts to stand in guz

ShadeofViolet · 06/05/2010 17:59

We had a BNP candidate and I have never seen him, I cant ind a picture of him either.

He didnt have his address on the ballot paper either. I mentioned on an earlier thread that he is probably too thick to know what it is.

Fluffyvacuity · 06/05/2010 18:02

SWISS - where are you that you think they might get in? How many seats do they normally get across uk?

ShadeofViolet · 06/05/2010 18:05

While I am alsways astonished that there is anyone that is a member of the BNP, am I the only one who is even more shocked that they have women members and even candidates, given thier views on women?

ShadeofViolet · 06/05/2010 18:07

mayorquimby - none of our candidates had addresses, just 'an address in such and such constituency' but under the BNP candidate it just said unknown.

thehillsarealive · 06/05/2010 18:11

we dont have a BNP candidate, but then we also dont have Lib Dem or labour candidates either - seeing as our 'local' bloke is speaker of the house.
