dorisbonkers · 28/04/2010 16:52

It's dreadfully mawkish

chaostrulyreigns · 28/04/2010 16:56

I'll agree with you plonker but I'll just add 'mister man'.

Gawd some people have no imagination.

purlcity · 28/04/2010 17:00

I'll tell you what is worse than 'lil man'....'gawjuss lil man'. Yuck!

DuelingFanjo · 28/04/2010 17:05

yep - am with you OP.
Hate it.
and Bubs, Bubba, preggo.... urgh!

dorisbonkers · 28/04/2010 17:22

'sproglet'?

'hubby'?

EveWasFramed · 28/04/2010 17:26

Hubby
Lil man is just horrible, too...I agree!

flibbertigibbert · 28/04/2010 17:31

YANBU.

I DETEST 'lil man'. Especially when used in Facebook statuses such as 'carnt wait 2 c ma lil man l8rz', or 'had a wicked time wiv ma gawjus lil man'.

5DollarShake · 28/04/2010 17:34

None of you are BU with any of these.

Glad other people think 'hubby' is ick. How to de-sexualise someone in one fell swoop - call them 'hubby'.

Kaloki · 28/04/2010 18:14

I call DH hubby, however it is very much tongue in cheek, And he calls me wifey in return.

(We aren't even married yet)

mumbar · 28/04/2010 18:17

I call my DS my little man - does that count in the yukky stakes!!??? I am single and therefore he is the man of the house ( in the gender sense not on the rule the roost sense)!!

EggyAllenPoe · 28/04/2010 18:20

i also didn't like the phrase, but find myself using it becuase DS, is, well, a smaller, cuter version of Daddy.

I also call my husband 'hubliboo'

Magaly · 28/04/2010 18:20

I call my little guy big tummy .

I am single and I baulk at 'DH' on thread about some man who is a knob. Just put 'h'. Don't put the D in if he's being an arse and doesn't deserve to be D

EricPicklesFatNeck · 28/04/2010 18:21

agreed and 'little one'

motherbeyond · 28/04/2010 18:23

my dh is irish and calls our boy the "wee man"..as in "howz aboutya wee man?!"

i like it!

Magaly · 28/04/2010 18:26

ach, he's nordurn irelunt?

Magaly · 28/04/2010 18:27

ignore that last post. it made no sense and was not funny. but you knew that.

sleepingsowell · 28/04/2010 18:57

I so so agree, have always hated 'lil man'

It's god-awful. But then I guess the parents who call their daughters 'princess' have to have something to say to their sons.....

monkeyfacegrace · 28/04/2010 19:02

Ah bog off the lot of you. My little man IS my little man, and my DH calls me his bubbagumpington so there

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 28/04/2010 19:04

NEver really heard 'lil man' , thankfully. Princess, awful.

Completely off the subject, but I HATE those car signs that say "princesss on board". Actually I loathe all those "kids on board" signs - but especially the princess one. Makes me want to drive very close to the car....

DorotheaPlenticlew · 28/04/2010 19:06

I don't like "li'l man" but quite like "wee man" -- have come round to it as we are in Scotland and DP/DS are Scottish, and it is quite sweet.

Cannot abide "hubby" -- no excuse for that sort of language.

PlumSykes · 28/04/2010 19:45

Hate it. Throw daggers at anyone who says it to DS. Same with 'wee man'. And 'little fella'.

Though my mum calls him The Man-ikin, which I like. But probably because she's my Mum, and I like her.

And actually, I call him Hume, short for human, which is what he was called in utero.

Oh, and DD calls him 'my guy', which makes. me. melt.

So really, I'm no better than the Lil Man crew, am I?

dorisbonkers · 28/04/2010 21:05

Off topic, but on the offchance that you are the real plumsykes I'll say hello. I knew you at college.

PlumSykes · 28/04/2010 21:06

Sadly, is not I.

I am nicer, but far, far less groomed.

And quite a bit fatter.

plonker · 28/04/2010 22:15

Oh God Yes, gawjuss lil man is even worse!

...it really makes me feel violent!

I'm relieved to see that I'm not cringing alone

mumblechum · 28/04/2010 22:18

Never heard lil man.

I loathe Mam, Mammy, Babs, Babby. Shuddering memories of cloth cap and whippet upbringing.
