that MN makes people testy and irritable?

By 'people' I mean me specifically

Been here for years and have always tried to be nice. 'Nice' is actually my default setting. But I started two threads in the last fortnight that have managed to wind people up. And there is a little part of me that sort of knew they would .

Is it an inevitable condition of long-term use of MN?

Or am I just getting old and crabby?

WTF?? why are you trying to wind people up, are you a fkg troll or something ()

WhoIsAskingSantaForCake · 11/12/2009 10:32

why don't you just shut up? I'm sick to death of this kind of thing.

Gotta say, have only been here a few months, yet I have more 'courage' to say things that I would normally have kept to myself for fear of upsetting others...

But what you have said is not testy and irritable, that is being a shit-stirrer

BendyBob · 11/12/2009 10:34

Old and crabby is my default setting

mumblechum · 11/12/2009 10:34

Mine too.

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 11/12/2009 10:35

Fuck off

and show us yer bum!

Diselfchanted3 · 11/12/2009 10:35

YANBU, MN makes me awfully cranky.

The amount of times I have typs 'oh f*ck off you bunch of nob heads' then deleted it lately is high!

abra1d · 11/12/2009 10:36

You are nice, Orm.

I'd just put it down to the time of year, people being over-busy, etc.

OrmIrian · 11/12/2009 10:36

Me too elf!

I think it brings out the person I try hard not to be

OP posts:
WhoIsAskingSantaForCake · 11/12/2009 10:37

you've gone a bit bum mental today Hully.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/12/2009 10:37

Orm - I am feeling the same thing. I was actually upset (why? I mean I don;t know any of you in RL) because inadvertenty upset a poster which I have always got alomg with yesterday, who has since flounced. basically accused of ganging up and bullying, and sticking up for someone who was taking the piss out of special needs. In my view the person was NOT taking the piss and I was NOT ganging up/bullying, but a few people agreed with her and I felt pretty bad actually.

Felt like going to floycers corner and saying I'm off MN for a bit, however thought would be (a) GetOrf who? (b) fuck off then on your way out (c) thread completely ignroed and would then think am narcissist.

I just am feeling a bit disillusioned with it at the mo which is odd because I have been on here 3 years now and have always really liked it.

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 11/12/2009 10:38

Who is - I've gone bumtastic in honour of all the homopaedophilerariies.

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 11/12/2009 10:40

Get Orf - but she was just having a turn. No need to be upset, people do have them, bless them.

Show us yer bum!

zazen · 11/12/2009 10:40

I've noticed you Orm. I don't know. I hope you're OK.
Any dates coming up on you - anniversaries? Memories?
Or are you just like me, getting tetchy as menopause approaches?

I've started doing some work on myself as I find I'm getting intolerant of things a lot quicker than usual. I've stepped back from things: given up any alcohol (my one glass a week!!) as well, and stopped posting for a few months.

Maybe I feel the cold wind of death, now I'm middle aged, and I have developed a realisation that time isn't infinite 'anymore'...

So maybe you're just getting old and crabby, like me! Or maybe 'nice' wasn't really YOU! [guffaw] [hysterics]

WhoIsAskingSantaForCake · 11/12/2009 10:40

Getorf.

That thread yesterday was all a bit strange. Just forget about it - it'll all blow over. Honestly? I didn't think the original comment was bad, and I don't think that you, or anyone else for that matter, ganged up on the poster you're talking about. Don't leave you silly thing.

morningpaper · 11/12/2009 10:40

The current obsession with swearing / the gays in the village is a bit weird and is putting people off I think

Other than that I think there is always a general increased crabbiness at this time of year

TinselianAstra · 11/12/2009 10:40

I think life makes people testy and irritable. MN is just a saf(er) place to let it out.

OrmIrian · 11/12/2009 10:41

Don't go getorf! Stay with me and be old and crabby.

abraid - thankyou I'm sure you're right - I blame the christmas spirit.

OP posts:
WhoIsAskingSantaForCake · 11/12/2009 10:41

Ah right Hully. All gays are WELL into the old bumsex innit? It's not natural

Diselfchanted3 · 11/12/2009 10:42

Ditto on the winding up, I just can't help it at the moment, think its me letting out the christmas stress.

I pretended I had a 50% sale item clothes code to the Boden Crew

zazen · 11/12/2009 10:42

Oh yeah, and show us yer bum! It is friday after all!

VinegarTinselTits · 11/12/2009 10:42

Nah, its just stresses of life that make you feel testy and irritable, but because MN is a place where you can tell it straight, it is easy to come on here and do just that, i always come to MN if i feel like a good old barny

On the whole though Orm, i have always thought of you as one of the 'nice' posters, but your allowed a little slip now and then

Perhaps some people find it harder to brush off what's said on here because it is anonymous and so not couched in very much social nicety. People are speaking their minds without the fear of repercussions, which makes it more 'truthful' and therefore easier to take to heart?
