Baby name choice

OK, I think I AM being unreasonable, so I just need a poll of how unreasonable this is.

My friend has named her baby a name (IMHO) which is awful. Truly awful.

I cannot bring myself to call this child by the name given. I have, however, realised that the initials give quite a nice name.

SO, I've taken to calling the child by it's initials.

I know it's unreasonable, but is it really bad to do this? I really do hate the name. I did balk when I was told, as did both sets of GPs...

I think I can get away with it, cos it's just using the child's initials, right?

I have tried to talk to the mum about the name, but she's not budging.

You are being so rude .If you really can't say the name can't you just refer to her as Little one or cutie pie or something like that

Just call your friend's baby Effie just like DH called his nephew by a nickname when he first saw him to which both his parents just stared at DH (was a truly funny moment!!).

and what's with many posters being on the defensive, if your baby isn't called Euphemia Violette what's your hang-up??

It's not a name I'd choose but tbh it's not my baby, so I'd probably just choose a shortened version to call the baby every time I saw her.

Do you have to call her the whole thing, including middle name?

Well, as long as you don't tell the mother what to call the child I think you can make up whatever pet name you like. The child will tell you what she wants to be called sooner or later anyway.
