The freshly stuffed type you buy from M&S? We had an agreement that all meals would be freshly cooked. I take ages making each meal for him from scratch and have never given him pre-prepared or convenience food and bit annoyed she has.

No i kind of agree with snippets tbh
there is nothign that takes long baout chopping an onion ( 2 mins) grying it( 5 mins) bunging a tub of passata on top( 20 secs) , some sugar( in our case) and simmering.

that is cheap and fast, if you ahev no time to do that then you REALLY need to watch less tv/Mnless

Eve4Walle · 16/05/2009 13:54

I just don't get this. Why is the pasta so bad to some people and not to others?

why do you have to be Italian to have an opinion on pasta?!

KingCanuteIAm · 16/05/2009 13:56

Early, ready ade passata would come under the heading of pre-prepared for this Op.

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 13:57

what sieved tomatoes?

KingCanuteIAm · 16/05/2009 13:58

If pre-prepared in a pot from a shop then yes, shop passata is more than just tomatoes TBF, it has all manner of addatives chucked in!

So, snippets is just a troll right?

Because M7S stuffed pasta won't do a 14 month old any harr. Even Italians don't bother stuffing their own pasta every day, just buy it in packets ready made.

sazlocks · 16/05/2009 14:00

If you are that bothered about something like this then I bet you are giving the CM a whole load of grief about other stuff they are doing/not doing. Personally I think you need to chill a little. Like you I make all of our food from scratch. I make all my own bread, cakes etc and and we have hens that give us our eggs ! Some of this is cos we are pretty skint and we have one SAHM parent so one of us has the time to cook. I am pretty anal about what my DC eats but think that most stuff is ok in moderation. Surely life is about balance at the end of the day ?

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 14:00

oh i do - and red wine normally. Makes it richer.

TheLadyEvenstar · 16/05/2009 14:01

Sugar cuts down on the acidity of the tomatoes

Overmydeadbody · 16/05/2009 14:02

King that's not true. I read labels before I buy stuff, and jars or cartons of passata rarely have 'all manner of additives' in them.

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 14:02

then dh and i have some capers and parsely in it. This obvviously woudl poison anyone under 10

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 14:03

i went to look but I havent got any in. In the grand ceheme of processed its not the worst. But hey they had MCds last night and are still slim, athletic and clever this morning.

Overmydeadbody · 16/05/2009 14:04

a little sugar enhances the falvour. There is nothing wrong with a little sugar.

It is the dose that kills, not the poison.

thats nice dear.

KingCanuteIAm · 16/05/2009 14:05

Really? You find passata, in supermarkets, with just tomatoes in? I have never found any yet, although, thinking about it, the cartons may be better. They add stuff to improve the shelf life.
