I've just spent half an hour scrubbing dog shit off the wheels of the pushchair and from the soles of DD1's trainers.

I've had enough of this happening regularly on the path that leads past school and into the park. It's difficult to always avoid when you've got a 5yr old, a 2yr old and baby in the buggy.

I just think it's unbelievably inconsiderate and something needs to be done. String 'em up I say!

Actually I think if some tosser leaves dog shit on the pavement and you run your pram through it, a reasonable punishment should be emptying your baby's nappy over the offenders front step.

Inconsiderate arses!

YANBU - stringing 'em up is too good for 'em. Oh the hours I've spend trying to get shit out of the crevices in trainer soles ... ugh ugh ugh

myredcardigan · 26/03/2009 10:04

it's disgusting isn't it? I'm not at all anti dog, just anti wankers.

Yes, PV the trainer job was vile. I scrubbed them then poured boiling water from the kettle over. Still not sure they're clean.

It's just rude- join me in M.A.D.S... Mums Against Dog Shit

Shall I register us as a Charity

myredcardigan · 26/03/2009 10:11

I think we need a name and shame campaign. One of the mums from school has two beautiful big dogs. She's just as disgusted as me and carries little tubes which contain about 20 little bags just in case her dogs ever do the same. She has one in her pocket and another attached to her pram.

It's a shame this reflects badly on considerate dog owners.

I'd also hazzard a guess that the same arses who let their dogs shit everywhere would tut in disgust if they saw a woman Bfing in public!

Neighbors dog kept pooping at the bottom of our drive, I put a sign on the fence saying "if you let your dog shit poop on my drive again I shall post it through your letterbox. I also told him I would shot it with an air gun....(dog not poop) no more poop on my drive.

Please note I do not have an air gun but he did not know that

YANBU - I'm afraid I am a dog hater and if I had my way they would be banned from general ownership. I narrowly avoided a fresh dog turd on the walk to nursery this am.

Plus, the other week walking along the river we stopped to feed the ducks. At this point a massive Boxer and a Staffordshire bull terrrier puppy (my most hated breed) came sniffing round ds's buggy. Owners calling them back but the dogs ignored them. The puppy jumped on to my ds's lap - I removed it and shouted at them to "GET THEIR DOGS AWAY FROM MY SON." I had to bend over his buggy and physically block him before they got them back under control. Got a muttered aplogy but they really didn't seem to give a shit.

I do realise my pov is extreme and would compromise on banning them from parks and the like.

wasabipeanut · 26/03/2009 10:24

Anyone got a spare pitchfork????

PrimulaVeris · 26/03/2009 10:24

As well as dog shitters, I'd also like to add cat owners to the condemned cell. I've got 3 cats next door and they crap over my tiny garden - thank god my dc's are long beyond the toddler stage or else I'd go bananas.

And I actually normally like cats. And dogs.

Yep. Time to get tough.

I usually chase after people on the beach if they 'haven't noticed' their dog doing one.I give them one of my nappy bags!

I say usually as sometimes it's a very scary looking rottweiler/staff type and the dogs look mean too [scared of being punched emoticon]

TheCrackFox · 26/03/2009 10:28

Nearly stood in the worlds biggest dog crap this morning. The dog must have been unwell. If owners can't be bothered to look after their dogs properly they shouldn't have them. I didn't let my DCs crap all over the place before they were toilet trained.

Maybe dogs should be made to wear nappies?

And I am sick to death of cats using my garden (very tiny) as a toilet.

Stayingsunnygirl · 26/03/2009 10:28

Oh I well remember the dog-poo slalom on the school run - trying to keep an eye on three sets of feet (ds1, ds2 and mine) plus the buggy wheels. And we had one partially sighted chap whose old dog used to poo as it walked along - dropping a trail of little poos that were well-nigh impossible to avoid.

I did tackle him about it once, as I thought that guide dogs were trained to go to the kerb and poo in the gutter - I assume that they 'tell' the owner they need a poo by their actions. He didn't seem to give a shit.

Mind you - our worst poo-related incident was not dog poo - we were visiting my sister and my child-phobic BIL, and darling ds1 decided to roll head-first in fox-poo on their lawn!! BIL's face was a picture.

tessofthedurbervilles · 26/03/2009 10:29

I have actually been sick in my mouth picking up after my darling mutt....so if I can do it then everyother dog owner should do it!

LEMAGAIN · 26/03/2009 10:31

At the risk of giving away my location - the route to my DDs school is a dog shit obstacle course. Now, i have a dog, i love dogs - i think that a lot of mnetters are precious about dogs breathing the same air as their beloved children. But leaving dog shit on the pavement or anywhere near a school should be punished by the daubing on of dog shit, or for persistent offenders make them eat it!!

Riven, you would be forgiven for thinking that responsible dog owners are in the minority but most of the dog owners i know ARE responsible and are just as disgusted by the shit everywhere as everyone else.

Around here, someone actually went out with flags to say pick poo up and popped it in the pile of poo. then, possibly the same person went out and sprayed the poos psychadelic colours.

I don't know why, but in the past few months the amount of poo seems to have quadrupled. Never been such a problem, what really gets my goat is that they let their dogs shit in the "alley". This alley being a concreted cycle path that is on a direct route to the school and generally where children run on ahead from their parents.

There is absolutely NO excuse for not picking up poo. I have been caught out before without a bag (en route to vets once didn't dream for one minute my dog would poo as he usually never did whilst on the lead) but poo he did. So i stood by it and pleaded with passers by for a bag - someone soon took pity on me and gave me a bag.

What seems to be working around here though is this: One of the roads most affected have posters in their windows done by their children asking people to pick up their dogs poo - it does seem to be shaming people into picking it up.

I have a feeling i know who the culprit is for a lot of it, it is a woman who walks two dogs whilst pushing her child in a pushchair - i kid you not. A friend of my mum got into an argument with her about it. I was walking behind her the other day and i was really hoping her dog was going to poo but it didn't - otherwise i would have given her a bag and forced her to pick it up.

RUB THEIR NOSES IN IT thats what i say - the owners , not the dogs.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 26/03/2009 10:32

Zero tolerance, MADS, the lot! I'm with you all the way!

It is a most disgusting, not to mention dangerous thing to have lying around in other peoples way. If the owners chose not to clear it up on their own lawns, drivweways etc then so be it, but on public rights of way, parks etc it is inexcuseable.

I have recently written to our council about the amount of dog fouling on the pavements outside of school. They said that unless I see a repeat offender who I can report to them there's nothing they can do about it

tattifer · 26/03/2009 10:38

Living in the country can I just add that much, much worse than dog poo in the lane (that will be gone by next week, or covered by horse poo) is the specially bought for the purpose nappy bag full of dog poo and now hanging in the hedgerow - congratulations f***t it's now going to last at least 10 years

tonysoprano · 26/03/2009 10:40

Hooray!! I too have been appauled at the amount of dog poo on our route to school. It is absolutely vile. It certainly has increased in our area too. Why is that do you think?

I haven't caught any mutt/owner red handed yet but they will receive the full force of my anger when I do.

Can we lobby our local councils??
