You can take them down today for me

Katisha · 27/12/2008 17:10

So did you put them up on Dec 1st?

Frizbe · 27/12/2008 17:10

I know one mumsnetter who took hers down today, so no, I don't think so. Do it when you have chance says I.

piscesmoon · 27/12/2008 17:10

YABU. I only got mine up in time for Christmas! I think Christmas should at least stretch to the New Year-even if you can't manage to the 6th Jan.

mumeeee · 27/12/2008 17:10

YABU, Everything stays up until 6th January here.

cece · 27/12/2008 17:11

Perfectly reasonable to me. We always take ours down before New Years Eve. ASAP I say!

whoingodsnameami · 27/12/2008 17:12

Apart from the tree, I am binnig everything as its old, I will get new next year, the binmen come Monday, so want to sort it all tomorrow.

I think it will get to the point where people move Christmas! I hate people having them up at the beginning of December-no wonder they get fed up-why not wait for Christmas in the first place?!

whoingodsnameami · 27/12/2008 17:14

I put mn mine up a week before christmas.

MatNanPlusTINSEL · 27/12/2008 17:14

ours went up on 24th and will be down on 1st/2nd.

NAB3hundredChristmaslights · 27/12/2008 17:16

Do what you want!

Flihgtattendant · 27/12/2008 17:17

Ours was up in November and down on Christmas day. All the needles fell off as we took it out

I took mine down on Christmas Eve .

We wernt going to be there for Christmas Day, and are now packing up the house to move next week, so we took them all down and packed the lounge.

ThingOne · 27/12/2008 17:19

Yep, bah humbug. We're pretty much twelfth nighters here. Tree does go up a bit before Christmas Eve, usually the weekend before Christmas, and decs stay up until 12th Night. This obviously means we are right and everyone else is wrong . Keep 'em up, I say.

Katisha · 27/12/2008 17:20

No No No it's only the third day of Christmas today!

Ponders · 27/12/2008 17:21

Our tree went up on the 24th & will prob come down next weekend (3rd or 4th)

It's usually up for longer than that but I've bin ill [coff]

Acinonyx · 27/12/2008 19:24

We always take the decorations down on New Year's Eve. I like it all back to normal for the New Year.

Thunderduck · 27/12/2008 19:26

YANBU. I don't see the point of keeping the decorations up beyond boxing day.

Kbear · 27/12/2008 19:27

I take my tree down on NY Day with a hangover usually! All nice and tidy for New Year!

I always want to take it all down on Boxing Day, dh says I can't.

DD agrees with me, at the ripe old age of 13, Christmas is so "boring" and "yesterday".

I think, just to annoy her, this year I'll keep it all up for as long as possible....

frasersmummy · 27/12/2008 19:34

if you dont have kids who will be upset then take them down when it suits you

I like mine to be up for my visitors on hogmanay.

I really hate going back to work when they are still up so mine will be coming down the first weekend in January

expatinscotland · 27/12/2008 19:35

ours are coming down on Sunday the 4th before the two eldest go back to nursery on the 5th.
