To be absolutely devestated at DH's reaction to his birthday cake.

I made my first attempt at a 'modelled' cake today. Is a chocolate sponge in the shape of a car (back view)

It took me a good few hours and I tried really hard to make it look good for him.

I brough it out to him, his best mate who is staying and his gf, and what do you think his reaction was?

I hope he didn't laugh

That's a cool cake!

If he did laugh, you should have shoved it on his head.

babblington · 07/12/2008 20:02

I think that is fantastic -miles better than I could do.

Cupofteaplease · 07/12/2008 20:02

Did he laugh? Or ask what it was?

I think it looks great though

TheFalconInThePearTree · 07/12/2008 20:02

It looks great to me.

What did he say?

Lizzylou · 07/12/2008 20:03

Well I guess he wasn't nice, I think it's an amazing cake, you should be really proud.

I'm chuffed if I ice a cupcake!

ChirpyGrinch · 07/12/2008 20:03

No, he didn't laugh.

It was worse

ChirpyGrinch · 07/12/2008 20:03

TheFalconInThePearTree · 07/12/2008 20:04

Go on, tell us what he said.

DontlookatmyNoseImRudolph · 07/12/2008 20:04

Did he moan that it wasn't a red ferrari

ToysAreLikeDogs · 07/12/2008 20:04

He said 'but why have I got an angry armadillo??'

Habbibu · 07/12/2008 20:04

Bloody hell - that's a great cake. What did he say???

thisisyesterday · 07/12/2008 20:05

that's really fantastic, esp for a first attempt.

if i'd done that and dp had laughed I would have thrown it at him

Blu · 07/12/2008 20:05

Fab cake...well done!

WHAT was his reaction?

He was a twat, wasn't he? was it the mate's fault?

thisisyesterday · 07/12/2008 20:05

he didn't ask what it was, did he?

PavlovtheCat · 07/12/2008 20:06

I just showed DH...he just laughed. Sorry.

However, most females are 'feelings' type of people, who see the best in things, to us, that is fab. Most men are 'thought' type people, ie overly critical and as it clearly cannot be driven away your DH was probably very unimpressed?

Ignore him, and only make make cakes for women in the future!

oldwhingebag · 07/12/2008 20:06

It looks great. If he didn't take you in his arms and thank you for all the love and effort you poured into that cake, he is a fool

random · 07/12/2008 20:06

he would be wearing it if he was my dp...its a fab cake

ChirpyGrinch · 07/12/2008 20:06

No, he wasn't a twat.

He blew out his candles (in the tires), ran off, got a knife and................

gulp................

hacked a big inelegant chunk out of it!

Bastard.

OP posts:
Habbibu · 07/12/2008 20:08

You know, that is the correct reaction to being given cake... though it should have been preceded by "Wow", or somesuch...

SeamusTheElf · 07/12/2008 20:08

o - it was one of those cakes - look but don't eat

oldwhingebag · 07/12/2008 20:09

The inelegant bastard!!

ChirpyGrinch · 07/12/2008 20:10

He did say wow, and was very impressed. He's been poking at it and dismembering it ever since trying to work out what sort of car it would be.

I just can't believe he didn't want to keep it forever to look at

Tastes bloody good though

OP posts:
Blu · 07/12/2008 20:11

OMG!

He ate it? he ate his b'day cake?!

Tell him you know he will easily knock up one for you in the shape of the London Eye, and you are very uch looking forward to it....

pamelat · 07/12/2008 20:12
