To get a monthly massage?

I’m only half joking. But I’m so tense at the moment and headed for a spontaneous massage tonight and I feel like it could actually be beneficial to add it into my routine 🤣

I would love that. You go for it!

BCBird · Yesterday 17:38

If you can afford it why not? I would see if u can deal with the reasons why u r tense too

I’m genuinely so tempted! I hate winter and I feel like it would be such a nice little self care ritual when it’s dark and disgusting

Sadly it’s just work, not much I can do!

If you can afford it then why not? I often get a massage, usually once a month and don’t see why it’s a problem unless it’s at the expense of something essential.

Summerstuff · Yesterday 17:39

Maybe at least have it first?

whenyouwereyoung · Yesterday 17:39

I have a massage every 3/4 weeks. I have no shame in doing so. Prioritise your wellbeing - body and soul.

clopertyclop · Yesterday 17:40

I used to get weekly treatments. Usually a facial etc with a massage. We could afford it then. I loved it and was much needed.

can’t afford that lifestyle now but I do miss it.

if you can afford it then go for it!

I do it every six weeks. I'm single, have no spouse or kids, and to be honest, I'm touch-starved. Apart from a quick hug from a mate I met for a concert on Friday night, I can't remember the last time I was touched by another human being, and it's an awful feeling and can make me cry. So, I book in for a massage regularly.

Amba1998 · Yesterday 17:41

Why are you half joking? I go every other month, have nails brows hair done. Whatever self care you choose is up to you. Wouldn’t ever consider raising an eyebrow at a monthly massage

And maybe therapy too as this sounds a very depressing way to live @PauliesWalnuts

I have a massage every month. I also go to my gym spa (sauna/steam room/cold plunge/jacuzzi) at least once a week. Self care is important!

GreenSlippers44 · Yesterday 17:49

Do it! If I had the means I wouldn’t think twice about doing anything like this that helped my stress levels.

RhinestoneCowgirl · Yesterday 17:51

I have a massage every 4 weeks, it's amazing, she really works out all the tension in my shoulders. I don't spend on hair or nails, or much on clothes, this is my treat and well worth the money spent. I know exactly what the source of my stress is, but sadly I can't do much about it.

arethereanyleftatall · Yesterday 17:52

Why wouldn’t you?

Undones · Yesterday 17:55

I have a massage twice a month.
One is neck back and shoulders for an hour i call the topup massage, the other is a full body massage from head to toe 90 mins along with other treatments i have that day i spend about 3-4 hours in the spa.

Me too are we going to the same place lol.

I’m a massage addict. It goes in waves for different reasons. At the moment I see a deep tissue massage guy about once a fortnight, he has thumbs of steel and I feel about an inch taller after he’s done. When I was recently bereaved I went to see an Ayurvedic massage lady about once a week and cried on the table. Just do it.

QueenStevie · Yesterday 17:58

I go every fortnight. She is marvellous and worth every penny.

I do. I get intermittent back pain, and a vigorous massage helps keep it down. It's sometimes quite painful, as it's deep tissue; so not the soothing sort. But it does help a lot.

FunPartyIdeas · Yesterday 18:00

If you earn it and can afford it then absolutely!!

Thanks, but I'm fine with just the massage - I feel like it re-energises me.

Something else you can try is to increase the physical sensations you get from everyday things - a weighted duvet, maybe a body pillow (J or G shape means you can have one side against your back and wrap the long side over your hip), plus activities that mean you 'feel more' - swimming for the temperature change and difference in weight, cool water over you followed by a hot shower and drying your hair, something like weights or resistance machines at a gym, clothes that have different textures and weight, that sort of thing, plus things like going to get your hair done or waxing/threading if you do that.

It's not as intense as a massage (except for a facial wax, that definitely makes sure that you know you exist), but they can all add up to help.

I started doing it when I realised that the only time anybody had touched me for as long as I could remember was when they were sticking something pointy into a vein, joint or muscle. And I was (sort of) enjoying it.

mondaytosunday · Yesterday 18:29

Why do you even have to ask? If you can afford it fine. I get a facial about every six weeks. I love it.
