Idiot ex husband still has his car registered to my address. Today he received a parking fine. I took great pleasure in telling him about it and ruining his morning 😊

You are overly invested in your ex .

thingamynbob · 14/10/2026 11:44

I regularly used to get them for my ex before I was able to sell the family home. Piles of fines. Problem is some were third party debt collectors so I ended up having to call them and give them his new address…

Quite the inference you’ve made there…

Get him to register it properly.

Porridgeontheroad · 14/10/2026 11:45

So recent split?

I might report his car as being registered to the wrong address too 😊

You would have done better if you had simply written return to sender and posted it back. The fine then doubles when not paid on time 🥳

Oooh I love this! Good idea for next time!

I would definitely do this incase you get someone looking for your ex at your address. I had that for different debts a few times and it was quite scary as I was a single mum with two kids and unsure if bailiffs were about to turn up for debts that weren’t mine…

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 14/10/2026 12:18

Always return to sender when they move out - you are not his secretary!

I was getting a load of debt letters from an ex and he was trying to set up bank accounts at my address, which was wild. It does always remind you what a sad prick they are!

Passaggressfedup · 14/10/2026 12:41

How long until you're back posting that your ex is being a dick doing something to you that makes you feel like shit and how massively unreasonable he is whatever the history.

Because that's exactly how it goes. Meanwhile, the kids, if any, are stuck in between.

i just passed on his mail. If I was smiling a lot, lamenting what a shame it was and hoping it’s not too expensive and that annoys him well - he’s being a bit sensitive isn’t he? 😊

Good shout. He’s not in debt as far as I’m aware but there were lots of things I wasn’t aware of in the marriage so you can never be sure!

How do you know it’s a parking fine without opening his mail?

Because it’s from ANTAI and it says it on the envelope. i have no idea from when or how much but we are French and these guys do all the parking issues

After I had third party collectors sent following a HUGE fine I knew nothing about, sent to my home address as that was also his registered company address, I began opening all mail that came my way. If he didn’t put the right address on, that’s his problem. I wasn’t about to be bombarded with people demanding his debts from me when I was on my own with two small kids, so I opened any mail addressed to the property.
Don't assume anything… I was shocked by some of the things I discovered throughout the divorce…

We had custody of my husband's sons. Their mother was convinced the youngest had a gluten intolerance and we were ignoring it so so took him for allergy testing at hospital and called herself Mrs (my surname). I think she was hoping to make us look like shit parents and present us with evidence of the gluten allergy but instead the results got sent to our house saying he had no allergies. We were going through a horrible court case regarding the kids at the time too

shellyleppard · 14/10/2026 13:19

@inerja do it 🤣🤣

Katemax82 · 14/10/2026 13:23

I recently opened my husbands mail (because he does it to me) lucky I did because it was a parking fine id got when visiting the dentist (the cars in his name). I'd forgotten to put my registration in the screen thing at reception but this particular parking company are brutal and refuse to let you off even if you have proof of your appointment. They reduced it to 20 quid but ffs

Porridgeontheroad · 14/10/2026 14:39

How long ago did you split?

unsync · 14/10/2026 14:54

I had debt collectors and bailiffs courtesy of my ex. They came to my parents' house which he had no connection to. That was worrying.

He's risking a large fine for not updating his log book, you could really make his day and report him to DVLA.

EtsyKetsy · 14/10/2026 14:59

Don’t let him use your address. Potentially it could ruin your credit rating if he doesn’t pay

Pumpkinsaregrowingnicely · 14/10/2026 14:59

Many moons ago after the latest in a long line of hearings about dc the jidge said he needed to speak to me at the end regarding a huge fine amount..
Exh looked very smug as he left court...
7k of fines in fact.
No tax /mot/insurance over a prolonged period..
Except idiot exh forgot I had court paperwork that declared he got the car in the divorce and they were indeed his fines to pay.
He had to declare himself bankrupt.
Karma indeed.

Exactly
that’s why I’ve asked how long ago they split / he moved out
