How late would you hoover at night if you were in a terrace house with thin partition walls?

I'm not in the UK, but where I live you can't make noise after 10pm.
I live in a flat though, might be irrelevant if you live in a detached house. You could check if the neighbours can even hear it.

PissTakePeg · 30/09/2026 19:58

9pm is my cut-off for any noisy household appliances.

RatsCatsandPuppies · 30/09/2026 20:00

Nothing noisy after 9pm!

bananaboats · 30/09/2026 20:01

9pm latest

WhatDoRacoonsSay · 30/09/2026 20:02

10pm.
I live in a flat but am only attached to upstairs.

Blarn · 30/09/2026 20:02

About 9. Maybe a bit earlier if I knew neighbours had young children just to be a bit considerate

Cuttertheduck · 30/09/2026 20:02

10 to 10 is the rule
If it isn't absolutely necessary though, I would stick to 9 pm

Sauvignonblanket · 30/09/2026 20:03

8pm, earlier if I knew they had small children

Swiftsmith · 30/09/2026 20:03

8pm for me

Hatty65 · 30/09/2026 20:09

9pm at the latest.

To be fair, I'm in bed before then usually. And I wouldn't be hoovering at night cos I'm knackered and done for the day after tea. But certainly no later than 9pm to be making any kind of noise that the neighbours can hear.

XenoBitch · 30/09/2026 20:12

8pm for me. I am mid-terrace too.

babasaclover · 30/09/2026 20:22

7/8 pm max

MyLimeGuide · 30/09/2026 20:24

Yes, or if I knew anyone was ill.

Beenhereforever1978 · 30/09/2026 20:26

My upstairs neighbour? 6 minutes past midnight without fail.

I have my little robot hoover on an 8-8 schedule myself.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 30/09/2026 20:31

We live in a semi but it’s old and the walls are insulated we can’t hear their hoover or any appliances and tv’s and radios all kept to a level where nobody can hear them but generally not late as we have younger kids ourselves.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 30/09/2026 20:31

My friend lives in a new
build semi and she can hear when they flush the toilet!

Pumpkinsaregrowingnicely · 30/09/2026 20:33

Previous house probably not after 8..
Here? Whenever I need to. The ndn are the Not Give A Fuck variety .
And have made me the same.

LateNightOne · 30/09/2026 20:35

8pm. No need to hover later. Can be done the next day.

Suspicioustoenails · 30/09/2026 20:36

I normally hoover early afternoon, would think 10 o'clock the limit though.

Hoover noise doesn't really bother me.
It's human noise I hate.

Shloopie · 30/09/2026 20:38

9pm ish I suppose. Unless I'd smashed a glass or something, and then I don't care what time it is, I'm hoovering that up.

Oopsamama · 30/09/2026 20:38

I wouldn't after 8pm or earlier if I know the neighbours have small children.

User1786 · 30/09/2026 20:46

10pm finish at latest. My neighbour often hoovers at 8-9am on a weekend which I think is far worse. I like the 10-10 rule mentioned above although I’ve never heard of it before

HippeePrincess · 30/09/2026 20:50

Far worse to vacuum early in the morning, I wouldn’t even consider how late it was I don’t think I’ve ever hear our neighbour vacuum. Our neighbours are up all hours and are loud all the time, I think the bloke works nights so I’m sure he’d prefer we avoided daytime if they can hear ours.

fumingrightnow1 · 30/09/2026 20:52

7/8pm mid terrace but if there's a big spider the hoover comes out even if its 2am
