Looking after neighbours suitcase

Neighbour of ours, friendly known her for about 7 years is off on holiday next week.
We were talking about it over the wall yesterday and informed me she will be taking 3 cases and would it be ok if I keep the suitcases (packed) in my living room until the morning she gets picked up. I said yes of course and didn't ask why. My husband doesn't understand why we need to keep them here. I said don't be silly we are neighbours and it's the right thing to do. That's not unreasonable is it?

Why can't she keep her luggage in her own house til she gets picked up? It's a seriously weird request.

Is she going on holiday or is she running away from the person she lives with?or is she expecting a visit from the police so needs to hide the evidence?

Yeah that's weird why can't she keep them in her own home. I'd be concerned she's drug smuggling and going to say you had the opportunity to hide stuff in the cases in case she gets caught

She's planning on smuggling and will point the finger at yous. Because the suitcases were at yours after she packed them and you tampered with them, you see.

What if she's smuggling drugs and when she gets caught she says the suitcase was at yours and you must have packed them?

Why cant she keep them in her living room? She is obviously more organised than me as Im usually packing until the last minute 🤪

I would have asked her the reason she wants them stored in your house?
I would be very careful, she could claim you tampered with her luggage if she was found carrying something illegal.

You didn’t ask her why…….? This is not normal op I’m with your husband. Only understandable reason if she’s escaping dv otherwise as others have said it screams of something suspicious

Shes in her 70's and I said to my husband we should be helping and just had a blazing row. I'll ask her tomorrow and update them as I'm fed up with this and just trying to be neighbourly

Maybe she feels unsafe and is running away from her husband

Are you a teeny bit worried she’s planning her holiday to be in your house?

Maybe she doesn't want a potential burglar to see the cases through the window and break in when they know the house is empty.

Was the blazing row over you agreeing to take them? I mean it’s a bit of an overreaction unless you tend to let people walk over you and he’s getting fed up of it?

I imagine it’s more that she doesn’t want her living room cluttered up rather than drug smuggling… Obviously she doesn’t mind your living room being cluttered.
3 suitcases seems excessive for a lone traveller in her 70s.. will be difficult to manoeuvre them all. How long is she going for?
