What do we REALLY think about the weight loss jabs?

I've put this on AIBU rather than weight loss jab because I want a neutral audience rather than people who are all using the jab.
What are peoples thoughts on the jab? I'd love to hear from someone educated in the medical field about whether these are actually safe for people without diabetes.
I'm obese and I have lost a stone so far by dieting although it's taking me a long time! I know if I keep trying hard I can lose what I need to. Lots of people I know have started dropping weight from using the jabs and I am tempted however, can't shake a feeling that there's something not quite right.
What I mean by this is... these jabs have been around for years for diabetic people, so why have they only just been 'released' to people despite obesity effecting the NHS for years?
I know a woman who fainted in work the other day with gallbladder issues, she's on the jab.
Also, I'm going to sound a little conspiracy theorist now, but, isn't it odd these jabs became popular straight after people starting refusing to have more covid jabs..?.. I'd love to hear from people with a bit of background info or medical professionals to tell me whether I'm overthinking or if I'm onto something?

I hadn't expected such basic concepts to be so beyond you that you were reduced to calling them meaningless because you've backed yourself into a corner, but mmmkay. Guess it's either that or explain quite why you're so keen to insert comparisons about thin and unhealthy vs fat and healthy. It's not like that bears any resemblance to what's actually happening.

I have no idea what you’re finding so difficult, but I don’t think I can help you any further.

🤣 I don’t think anyone is sitting there exclusively eating KitKats! But the evidence doesn’t really show an improvement in diet quality either. And as a pp said, why would it?

Most studies are small and obviously reflect the diet preferences of the patient population (ie large portions and/or calorie dense/nutrient poor foods). Mostly they show a reduction in overall intake, but nutrient deficiency. I AI’d the summary

Honestly, anyone else rolling their eyes at this.

id love to know what’s driving you, it’s not a concern for fat people. I wonder if we could see you if we would know. Either way it’s your business.

but, seriously, you’re obsessed about fat people getting slim. Which is your bad luck.

I don't need AI to see that out of those, two of them state that there was an improvement in diet quality (the decrease in sweets, high fat and UPFs is a bit of a clue there) and they are, in terms of statistical significance, data slop - the first was based upon a self reported three day food diary by 38 participants, the second 28 people, 55 and 114.

The final one is what the participants' diet and nutritional was like before commencing GLP-1 medication due to meeting the prescription criteria for a medication and, in the absence of either a handy Time and Relative Dimension in Space vehicle or a spare De Lorean, it is rather difficult to envisage the thought process where you are attributing a conclusion such as this to baseline data.

The point of the latter study is precisely that diet before was terrible, and the smaller samples show diets don’t vastly improve. If you think a massive lack of basic nutrients is an improvement, then fair enough. ‘Fewer UPFs’ seems like a very low baseline, and certainly not one I’d claim was a healthy diet. That seems blindingly obvious to me, but we’re all different.

You seem quite obsessed with what I look like. It’s creepy.

I am very pleased for fat people to get slim, if they wish to, I just think it’s also important for people of any size to be healthy and have access to things that facilitate that. I’m honestly surprised that’s so controversial, because it is isn’t among anyone I know in real life.

Good, we're all in agreement then. It's a good thing for fat people to get slim if they wish to, and for some (like me) WLIs are just the tool to do that.
