AIBU to think we all have too many clothes?

I’ve come back from my holiday and done the laundry and vacuumed packed my summer clothes. I wouldn’t say I buy clothes that often but I’ve brought out my winter stuff and I am OVERWHELMED by the amount of things I own and I don’t even like most of it!!

Any advice on how to streamline this?

The amount I spend on clothes is shameful, but I’ve started buying the best quality I can afford, even with things like tights, and buying less. My task for tomorrow is to sort all the overstock I have of clothes I’ve never/hardly worn and get them to the charity shop. I’ve lost a lot of weight, so may actually end up keeping some stuff that hasn’t seen the light of day for a couple of years! At the moment I have clothes in piles everywhere, and it’s driving me mad.

10+ years ago I used to swap my clothes around twice a year. Then I had a ruthless declutter and since then all of my clothes have fit into a standard wardrobe. It feels great to have fewer clothes and to not have to swap them around - I had too many before and I don’t miss any of them. I still have clothes for all temperatures - winter jumpers and summer dresses and everything inbetween, just fewer of them!

Yabu to think we all do. I don't have loads. I'm always ...I'm not sure what the right word is, when mumsnetters come on to say they've packed away their summer clothes and got the winter stuff out or people that have multiple wardrobes full of clothes.

Do people really do this? You must have masses of clothes to make it worthwhile

Of course. It’s so good! It’s a one off thing, you don’t need to have masses of clothes, gives clarity and reduces overwhelm and means you won’t waste your life buying loads more clothes.

Mine all fit in two drawers and on 10 hangers so other than reorder the hangers or pair up the socks am not sure what they would work with. It’s easy not to buy too much - I only replace stuff. I have one pair of jeans, two pairs of trousers, two pairs of shorts etc I have more dresses but I don’t think anyone even notices I have a limited wardrobe - who cares what other people wear.

I have multiple wardrobes full of clothes. I am planning to put them on Vinted, I don't want to give to charity when I could make money out of it.

I don't put summer clothes away, I tend to cover up through the summer and my summer wardrobe isn't too different from my winter wardrobe (I just put a jumper on top and wear leggings under jeans when it gets really cold).
