$5k to vote Republican

To ask any citizens of the USA what y’all gonna do with your $5k? Probably not enough to resettle in Canada, so candles, hurricane lamps, bottled water and tinned food?

Well @Lizzieregina now that these electoral issues and corruption loopholes are highlighted what are the American public planning?

SevenYellowHammers · 11/09/2026 15:17

Lizzieregina · 11/09/2026 15:10

Fewer than 30% of American adults voted for him, so 70% of us weren’t “on” anything!!

Of the people who did get out and vote, he still got less than 50%. Most people don’t want him or his BS!

There must be something we can do!!

It will never happen.

I hope they’re planning to vote in large numbers to elect Democrats in the mid terms, especially in red or purple states. I know I’ll be out there with my whole family doing just that, but we live in a blue state, so it won’t make much difference here. 82% of the population where I live voted for Harris in 2024.

I do financially support the campaigns of viable democratic candidates in red states, such as Talarico and Ossoff, but unfortunately overcoming the massive misinformation campaigns in those places is difficult.

It’s a pretty awful way to do politics/policy.

But is it any different in principle from politicians offering big tax cuts, or big benefits increases, to win votes?

(I think morally it becomes an issue when it’s heavily debt-funded, ie screwing those who come later becuase they can’t vote).

We have done that to younger generations!

Any mention of the "c" word that refers to digital currencies will get flagged. Presumably to prevent bots trying to peddle scams.

Ah! Thanks. I thought I had been inexplicably trenchant while half asleep

unabashedopossum · 11/09/2026 22:30

Anyone who believes they are getting this money is a complete idiot.

I’m a lot less worried about this than what he’s doing with the USPS and mail in votes though. Politicians make all kinds of promises they won’t keep. The brazen electoral interference is the far bigger threat to the democratic process.

Seeing all of the US constitution’s checks and balances fail and leave us in a place where such brazen electoral interference is possible has shocked me. I also feel that I’ve become so desensitised to it. The insider trading, the election interference, the threats to annex territory of allies. It’s all so abnormal and yet it’s become routine. It’s barely even news anymore.

I saw the attempt by USPS to avoid distributing ballots in a very blue part of Florida. Luckily it failed. Texas has also closed a third of the polling locations in Fort Worth. I doubt that this will be the end of the dirty tricks. But then the GOP (Gang Of Paedophiles) has been cheating for years.

Thecatspantaloons · 11/09/2026 23:06

I can't believe people are doubting his promises, especially since it's the 25th anniversary of him escaping the collapsing towers 🙄.

Agreed! And he’s still trying to push his stupid SAVE act which is a complete catastrophe!

I don’t believe even for a second that he’s the architect of this though, he’s far too stupid.

dustabsorber · 11/09/2026 23:08

Can we have the same deal here? Vote Reform and get 5K.

If he was a Russian plant, he couldn't be doing a better job of destabilising the West.

Then there are the likes of Peter Thiel, and that odious cretin Stephen Miller.

It would probably affect a lot of their voters benefits 😶.

We are suffering an onslaught of misinformation too in UK. Keep strong where you are, it can’t go on forever.

Yeah, there’s a sort of weary acceptance. I feel like nothing will stop him. His supporters will seize the White House if he doesn’t win the next election. Really scary.

I can’t believe it’s gone on this long!! I don’t know who these dimwits are that think he does anything that doesn’t benefit himself!

But I’ll do my bit by supporting strong candidates and getting out and voting and badgering like minded people to get out! I’m a bit old to lead the revolution!

Hopefully November 3rd will do the trick, but I agree he won’t go quietly unfortunately.

Cornishclio · 12/09/2026 01:42

Another empty promise just like the DOGE cheque and tariff dividend. Anyone fool enough to fall for his lies needs their head examined. US cannot afford it, they will need to add 1.35 trillion to the already 40 trillion debt and Congress needs to approve plus of course offering cash for votes is illegal. As he already has the house and senate plus the economy is doing so brilliantly (according to him) why can’t he give it out now?

maxslice · 12/09/2026 03:17

I read today that a reporter asked him, “If your economic policies are working, why would you need to give people $5K to vote?” Trump was very unhappy with the question. I think it’s a good question.

Greyblueeyes · 12/09/2026 03:31

My god, the shame. I despise Trump and his ilk. Everyday he does something more awful. Now he wants to bribe elections. I don’t know why I am surprised anymore. Please know that not all Americans support this insanity!

daisychain01 · 12/09/2026 07:39

As soon as all votes have been cast there'll be an announcement that the cheque has been cancelled.

It’s reassuring . You’d never know from the endless footage of MAGA baseball caps at rallies.

Did he tell the reporter that they were “nasty”? Did you see him doing his speech in Ireland today trying to wind us up about wanting a unified Ireland? Great idea! NI will be back in EU lucky lot!
