AIBU to be fed up with screaming children in the supermarket?

I went to the supermarket about half an hour ago and OMFG! Every child was screaming. There were at least 15 children aged (guessing) 18 months - 9 years old. Not one parent was bothered.

I was in the store for 5 mins

I was planning to have an alcohol free evening. Not anymore.

People shouldn't have to "get over" shoddy parenting and the inconvenience it causes the rest of society.

Very fake and goady to insinuate it's the mere existence of children.

There is no excuse for poorly behaved children. Parents need to get over themselves, it was your choice to breed, now it is your responsibility to make your children behave with some decorum and respect for other people.

Here we go with the “my shit don’t stink” people who think kids should be seen and not heard. My child belongs in a supermarket just as much as you do. We shop Asda, Tesco, M&S and Waitrose and I love it when I get a dirty look from one of the toffee nosed individuals if my 3 year old gets emotional/shouts/tantrums because sometimes there is just no reasoning with them because guess what? They are 3! So normally it gives me a chance to ask the individual giving me a dirty look and not so silently judging myself and my child if they were ever kids? Could they ever remember what they got irrationally upset about? 99% of the time they can’t answer so I wish them a lovely day and move along the aisle.

My children are well behaved, they never miss on their manners, when we go to restaurants they sit and colour and engage in family conversation, they are kind, my eldest often comes home with well done stickers for helping her nursery workers tidy up without complaint, for being kind to others if they are upset etc. I’m not worried what a bitter miserable person thinks when it comes to a child doing what they are developmentally supposed to do.

Have you actually read the thread and realised normal, occasional tantrums are not the topic?

People aren't complaining that children exist. They're complaining that their parents can't be arsed to parent them.

When I hear a child/ren screaming in a public space, I just ignore it and thank God those days are well in the past because they were so, so hard.

It’s not a playground for kids either but you’d never tell by the way some people let their kids behave.

I think some of them actively encourage it. Child running amok in the supermarket = tired/quiet/compliant child at home.
