AIBU to be shocked at the violence towards women at the Reform conference?

ILikeDinosaurs · 06/09/2026 11:03

Another video showing the violence against a woman at the Reform conference. They are actually PULLING A WOMAN DOWN ON THE FLOOR and KICKING HER.

A man in a suit and a man with a lanyard both kicking her. The man with the walking stick in the other videos (identified as Stephen Cooling) looks like he's pulling her down and possibly kicking her too. Women are just watching with no care for the victim.

This is Fascism. Given Nigel's horrifyingly GLEEFUL response to this, this violence will become the norm under Reform.

How can people defend this?

Mods please don't take this down, this mustn't be allowed to be ignored.

No. “Peace” by intimidation and threat of violence is never peaceful. And they certainly weren’t peaceful in portsmouth either.

So a lot like the pro-Palestine marches then.

Indeed. Both left-wing and right-wing men seem to have no difficulty in trying to intimidate people when it suits them.

Have you seen Jenrick’s comments today when asked about the violence towards female protesters? “Boo hoo”. I’m absolutely mortified and disgusted that an MP would respond to VAWG in that matter. What the fuck?!

Unbelievable, isn’t it. At least they don’t pretend to be decent people. They can’t muster up one ounce of it anyway.

I think people saying the response and "boo hoo" comments are a sign of weakness are mistaken. Reform is speaking to sections of the population who admire direct action and getting physical where necessary
" In my day they'd have got a good hiding" types
I don't think all the posts calling Reform voters thick and fascist are helpful at all
I don't think their rise will be good for women or the UK as a whole at all at but demonising them will be counterproductive. That's what the US left did to Trump

How is it "woke" to say very public group assault of someone is not acceptable? I would go as far as to say it doesn't matter who the people involved are - they are all citizens and should abide by the laws of this country and its actually illegal to beat someone up like this. In case you did not know.

Breaking into a conference and heckling is not illegal and if it was an issue she could have been taken out by security. There was no need to assault her.

Isn't it odd how these types dismiss anything they dislike hearing as "woke"?

Do they really not have any other argument?

'Woke' shouldn't actually be an insult. All it means is awake to issues in an intelligent, progressive and thoughtful way. It's morphed into 'brainless, left-wing person captured by extreme left-wing dogma'.

I'd like to know how convictions for domestic violence vary between the main political parties.

Robert Jenrick is the father of two daughters. Has there been a conversation between Mrs & Mr Jenrick?

Some photos.

It’s an AI video!! It astounds me people are believing it.
look at the physics of movement with the main characters and background characters. Especially when the face grab and the strike with the stick happens. Look at the phones and other cameras supposedly filming it! Yet only one or two angles shown publicly?? Plus the screen on one of the mobile phones shows blank.
it’s all part of the big plan to turn people against each other and wreak havoc with trust and votes.

Hmm. You have just two posts on MN, both saying exactly the same thing. It is not AI. The man in the photos is a real person. Stephen Cooling.

Eta: who is behind this "big plan"?

Edited

two posts as they link to each other (name change for this, MN user for years, hate politics but this has riled me with the clear AI attempt to create friction between parties and supporters), and I’m shocked not more people can clearly see it’s amazing video. Why is there only one clip when there were other cameras and phones? Why are the movements of hands and faces so AI? The face grab especially obvious.
I’d not seen this chap was identified. I’ll have a google.

UtterMadness22 · 13/09/2026 22:32

Also, Deepfake videos are common and dangerous

There is not only one clip. There are several videos taken from different angles. It really is not AI. All the news outlets, left wing and right wing, have published photos. No-one in Reform has denied what happened. Jenrick has said the chap with the crutch "deserves a medal".

Straight from the Trump playbook.

Basically it’s a case of “Anything I dislike is “woke”.”

But rarely can they define what it means.

Nobody is demonising them. There's no need. They are showing women exactly who they are.

ArabellaScott · Yesterday 18:25

And fwiw I've never said Reform voters are thick or fascists. They are apparently happy to encourage, sanction, and applaud violence.

I've previously criticised people for 'milkshaking' Farage.

Violence is unacceptable, its very simple.
