I've got an annual leave day today and am spending the morning shamelessly on the sofa watching daytime TV with cups of tea and biscuits after an exhausting school summer hols. Kids back at school today. I've given myself permission to vegetate till 3:15pm.
So here I am watching This Morning and have just spent 5 minutes with my jaw wide open and hand over my mouth at what Miriam Margolyes just said to Andi Peters.

I was disgusted not only at racial comments but also her way of saying his parents "you had a white mummy and a black daddy"...very condescending.

It is condescending, but i think it is a posh older person thing though, she called her own parents mummy and daddy.

Her saying that she is being 'welcoming' and 'inclusive' to Andi (despite his blackness I assume) is infuriating.

He is at his place of work, in his country of birth, why on earth does she think she has the authority to welcome him?

She absolutely knew what she was saying and how awful it was.

Yes. The ‘we welcome everybody’ was just as offensive as the ‘high yella’ comment.

She clearly thinks of Andi as someone who needs to be welcomed into British society, rather than simply recognising him as a British man who happens to be black. Outrageously racist. I hope they never have her as a guest again.

One thing this has shown is how her attitude is indicative of most of the Pro Palestine brigade. Patronising, clueless/not caring about facts and always thinking they are doing people a favour with their contribution.
