I've got an annual leave day today and am spending the morning shamelessly on the sofa watching daytime TV with cups of tea and biscuits after an exhausting school summer hols. Kids back at school today. I've given myself permission to vegetate till 3:15pm.
So here I am watching This Morning and have just spent 5 minutes with my jaw wide open and hand over my mouth at what Miriam Margolyes just said to Andi Peters.
Did anyone else see it??
I mean it takes a lot to shock me. I am not easily shocked.
And this woman is currently doing a sell out tour??

I cannot stand the woman. If she was a man she would have been cancelled ages ago. Crude, vulgar and letchy.

I then read Andy peters but saw in my minds eye Andy crane and none of it made any sense.

Did she talk about how dark he is, How did that come about ?

MM is a fantastic actress particularly her Dickens women show but as herself there is too much personal information and foulness.

It’s perfectly possible to give a description and context though without using actual racist terms.

I haven't seen it. I don't share the affection some people have for MM though.

Saying crude things in a 'posh' voice doesn't automatically mean it's funny, although some people obviously think the opposite.

Now I think about it, her personality negatively affects my view of her as an actress, unfair as that might be.

I’ve no idea why she said it. It was kind of out of nowhere. She then started going on about how she wanted to be inclusive and welcome everyone. As if, she was being benevolent to Andy/ Black People.

He should have replied “No, was one of yours a cunt?”

Well, I mean, I think she was racist.
She said to Andi "I bet you've got a black father and a white mother haven't you".

Andi wasn't talking about his heritage.
He said "Actually both my parents are black". She acted surprised and said "Oh you look like a high yella"
Andy looked like he hadn't heard of this description so she elaborated by saying "It's what American people call black people who are a lighter shade of black"
Andy said he didn't know you could get 'different shades' which was said with an understandable sarcastic tone in his voice and he looked shocked.
She went on to say "Well it doesn't matter, we welcome people, we'll be inclusive......"
WTF? We need to be inclusive? Andi was born here, in Chelsea.

So many assumptions made by her based on his race. And blurting them out on national TV!
Christine Lampard looked like she just didn't know what to say.
Then Miriam was saying she's got strong views about people coming in to the country but at that point they cut her off and wrapped up the interview.

I understand that it was to preempt all the "Oh I wish I had time to watch daytime telly" bores, but I was skim reading your post thinking jeez woman....get to the point!

I don’t know who andI peters is. What exactly was wrong with what she said? She asked him if he was mixed race, and he isn’t? Please explain! Oh ok just saw she said high yella. Is that from Tennessee?
