To think Tim Curry in Rock Horror was something else?

Since Tim's passing last week, I had a mind to re-watch Rocky Horror Picture Show

And dear god, that man does something to me. 😜

Im not into Tim Curry in anything else, Im not into men cross dressing/transvestitism. Neither are a "thing" for me. But what.is.it.about.Tim.Curry.in.Rocky.Horror? Seriously. He makes me shiver with antici...pation! 😂😂

Please tell me there's at least someone out there in mumsnet world that agrees so I dont feel so alone...
Or tell me im weird...I dunno.

I think its the raw confidence and power he has in Rocky Horror

This.

PurpleYarnivore · 30/08/2026 21:57

Yes ! We watch Rocky Horror every New Years Eve , it’s strangely been my 18 yr old DD favourite film since she was 11 and walked in on my dad and I watching it one day . Not my kink but there’s something so sexy about a man that confident in stockings and suspenders
RIP

Not to go off on a tangent but also: Alan Cumming in Cabaret: same energy.

AbacusCat · 30/08/2026 22:04

Yes, absolutely. He exudes charisma.

Well janet and Brad appear to agree with you

scoobysnaxx · 30/08/2026 22:08

I must admit he has ALWAYS given me the absolute willies. Creepy!

BUT

I always fancied Rooster in Annie 😂 and I was dumbfounded to learn as I got older it was Tim Curry! RIP.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 30/08/2026 22:08

Oh yes, absolutely! And I agree with Miss Piggy too.

HoldMyWine · 30/08/2026 22:09

He was massively sexy in Rocky Horror

AgentPidge · 30/08/2026 22:17

Yep, you're not alone, OP. I found Frank'n'Furter extremely sexy. Scary, but sexy!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 30/08/2026 22:19

I must be the odd one out… I don’t find anything attractive about him in RH. Great acting, but a man in women’s underwear makes my fanny clamp shut 😆

IRL yes, but on the screen I find him magnetic.

No, I'm not sexually drawn to him at all, but I'm enthralled by his energy and magnetism.

WiddlinDiddlin · 30/08/2026 22:45

Both Tim and Anthony Head in Rocky Horror, realllllllllly did something for me...

Oh now I have a sad - I can only confess this now that ASH and Sarah are both gone - but OMG Tony in stiletto boots and fishnets was... mmmm. Anyway where was i..

Love Tim Curry in anything though, we're about to watch IT for the 900th time and tbh I could watch that simply by shutting my eyes and remembering but he is really SO good as Pennywise... (not in the same knee trembling way as in RHPS mind.. im not THAT weird).

We watched Clue the other night - it is dreadful but he was still brilliant!

Yes, I always feel like I blush a little bit watching him in Rocky Horror! I do quite like a man wearing something a bit feminine - painted finger nails, a really floral shirt, even Eddie Izzard years ago in lipstick - it gives off such an attractive confidence. But Tim Curry....

Agreed. A man in bold eyeliner is my kryptonite.

See also my username, if you get the reference: a women’s blouse open to the navel doesn’t go amiss.

friedaklein · 30/08/2026 21:47

Bowie too.

Particularly as Jareth the goblin king.

That helped 12 year old me find my fanny 🤣

whippersnapper55 · 30/08/2026 22:59

My best friend and I were obsessed with Rocky Horror and in particular Tim Curry when we were 13!! We watched it over and over, went round singing all the songs (blissfully unaware of the meaning of quite a lot of it!)

UnpopularOpinionsIWouldUsuallyKeepToMyself · 30/08/2026 23:05

You are very far from alone.
See also Darkness in Legend.
Phwoar.

Gribouille · 30/08/2026 23:12

You're right - I think it's that all that stereotypically female clothing highlights what is a very masculine body... his movement is very powerful and male-coded, even in heels... (fans self)...

Aintgointogoa · 30/08/2026 23:54

You are definitely not alone OP....I get a fanny gallop as well in that scene tho' not minded to go for any of these 'kinks' (have no problem with them and can see the attraction however). I also get a glimmer of Freddy Mercury in there somewhere...maybe the mouth ? In any case, Tim C knocks the ball out of the Transylvanian park in RHPS, and ascended to legend status 🧛‍♂️💫

Peacoconut · 31/08/2026 00:22

He was sexy in that film but I also had a strange crush on Columbia too!

I was 18 and returned home one evening after a night out. Mum was in bed, Dad was still up and I turned on the TV to see something, I didn't know quite what it was, but I remember being blown away. My Dad on the other hand pulled a face and made noises of disapproval. Since then I have watched it so many times, been to the live shows and absolutely adored Tim Curry. His presence in Rocky Horror was just outstanding.

This was also me, but aged 15. Turned it on midway through late one evening and I’ve not been the same since!

WhereYouLeftIt · 31/08/2026 00:35

Fabulous as he looks in Rocky Horror, I think he looks best as William Shakespeare (he was young, 1979 I think).

He's got one of those faces, it's entirely down to his facial expression whether he is handsome or not.

I think I'll have to search down Clue for a re-watching.

Watched it today. My god he was mesmerising.

cannynotsay · 31/08/2026 01:34

yeah I get it, you’re not alone lol

EdinaTheConfessor · 31/08/2026 06:29

One of my first crushes was the Grand Wizard in the 80’s film The Worst Witch. Would love to watch that again as an adult but sadly can’t find it to stream anywhere.
