I've been struggling with anxiety and agoraphobia since my mum died in Jan. I haven't left my flat for more than a few minutes since her funeral in Feb.

I've just walked around my block six times by myself and didn't panic. Feeling very proud of myself at the moment! I know it's on a tiny thing but it genuinely feels like a huge accomplishment! 🥳🥳😁😁

So sorry for your loss OP

and well done! In grief every small milestone is an achievement

Cleanpress · Yesterday 19:58

Amazing, well done OP. It’s not a tiny thing at all, it’s you fighting back against agoraphobia and anxiety! Every step counts

Pippatpip · Yesterday 19:58

Well done. Brilliant. 6 times is quite something.

Mmmkaay · Yesterday 19:58

Fantastic work - you should feel really proud of yourself! What motivated you to do it?

AssassinsEyebrow · Yesterday 19:58

That's amazing @QuestionableMouse , congratulations!

If it's not weird to say, I'm proud for you - I know someone with agoraphobia and its horrible. You're bloody brilliant.

So sorry about your Mum OP

Well done you for going for your walk. And definitely well done you for doing it without panicking. It 's not a small thing at all.

CheerfulBunny · Yesterday 20:02

Good for you! Don't stop now, keep doing it. Sorry to hear about your mum. I suffered with depression during covid and stopped going outside for months at a time. Going outside again was terrifying at first, I had to force myself to do it after counselling so I know how you feel. Please keep going and good luck. It will get easier.💖

TryAgaiJ · Yesterday 20:03

Well done fresh air and walking is amazing for mental health I hope it inspires you to keep trying.

Namenamchange · Yesterday 20:04

That’s amazing!! Well done op, can you do the same tomorrow? What an achievement, remember how proud you feel tomorrow

noctilucentcloud · Yesterday 20:05

That is amazing OP! Well done you!! Keep going, and if you find one day is harder anxiety wise then remember every recovery has better or worse days and that you're not back to square one. I've had agoraphobia and am now ok 99% of the time, you can get there. Are you doing anything to celebrate your acchievent? I think it deserves a wee food treat, a new top, a new book, a glass of something, a takeaway whatever you'd like.

YouCanDanceSaidVodka · Yesterday 20:05

That's really great and you SHOULD feel extremely proud of yourself. I'm so sorry you suffered the loss of your Mum...you've obviously been through a tough, challenging period since. Here's to far easier times ahead.

HurdyGurdy19 · Yesterday 20:06

I'm sorry for your loss

But well done on your achievement today.

Every great journey starts with a single step.

I hope you manage to keep this up, and continue walk further afield x

Busybookworm · Yesterday 20:07

Well done - I am sure your mum would be proud of you. I’m sorry you’re been having such a difficult time and I hope this is the start of better things for you.

MotherofPufflings · Yesterday 20:07

Fantastic! It's not a tiny thing at all to do something that you have found so difficult. Bet your mum would be proud of you Flowers

Really well done OP

Grief is the worst thing in find world for making the limits of your world creep in on themselves. I know that only too well.

You have taken a really important first step. Don’t be surprised though if you feel really tired tomorrow. Just keep pushing onwards.

Ribenaberry12 · Yesterday 20:08

That’s awesome, well done, OP. 🌺

Glitterbiscuits · Yesterday 20:09

That is a lovely thing to read! Can you come back tomorrow with another bit of good news?

MrsTerryPratchett · Yesterday 20:10

Mydahliasareshit · Yesterday 20:11

Manename · Yesterday 20:15

Sorry for you loss

Well done on your walk. Brilliant As others have said keep on getting out. But if you try and don’t manage tomorrow, or do tomorrow but not Wednesday it doesn’t mean you’re back to before, it means it’s a slow process. Enjoy the pizza and thank you for giving me some happy news
