BBQ party tonight

We have planned a family get together this evening with a charcoal bbq in the garden. I hasten to add it’s a proper one not disposable.

should we still go ahead, or should I play save and cook the food indoors, what’s everyone else doing,

I mean, it stresses disposable bbq, says nothing about kettle ones in a garden. But I don’t want to cause any problems, and tbh we have a lot of trees around us and I’m a little worried, DH says I’m being silly but ?

My first paragraph was sarcasm aimed at the posters and their buckets of water that'll apparently put out a fire on dry grass before it takes hold🙄.

Tell that to my sister whose gas BBQ caught on fire.

This thread is an eye opener. How many fires are started because of a stand alone gas/charcoal bbq!?

Get on with the bbq on a patio and as someone else said, get a hose/bucket of water nearby if you are that worried.

How often do your bbq’s cause a fire? A proper well managed bbq is absolutely fine. A disposable one on the grass is not. This is Covid mentality again.

A charcoal or gas barbecue is also an activity that could cause a fire.

Amazed at the lengths people will go to in order to justify setting fire to stuff in their garden so dad can play billy big bollocks marinading his steaks and wearing a comedy apron.

By way of an update, we had the BBQ, my cousin who is a firefighter was present, as was my great uncle who is a retired chief fire officer, no fires were caused and this will make you all feel reassured. It rained.

Disposable bbqs have all been taken on the shelf in stores and overheard another customer being told that they aren’t allowed to sell any. I would’ve thought a proper bbq would be fine but I think I’d avoid it but as you’ve already arranged it, I would use it as it isn’t those ones we need to worry about but at the same time I like to stay cautious

But cars don't involve open flames by design, only by accident. And driving is a lot less optional than cooking food on a barbecue.

We were going to have a little bbq for tea tomorrow as ds11 had asked for Bbq sausages - when we had the alert (and finally the English version arrived, as we couldn’t read the first Welsh one, so presumed Armageddon was approaching!) we just said we will leave it this weekend and do it again when we can. It’s not a big deal to delay bbq’ing til safe surely.

There’s nothing wrong with using a bbq in your garden just not near a fence. We’ve gone camping and have used a raised gas cooker

Are you missing the part It says including disposable, that actually means all BBQs anything that could ignite things not just disposable or BBQ things.
